If your room iscarpeted, arrange to use a tile-floored room, or else provide tarps, newspaperor plastic coverings for the floor. Cut craft paper into sheets large enoughfor wrapping a medium-sized gift. Make individual painting areas by placingnewspaper on the floor with a piece of craft paper on top of the newspaper. Makesure each painting place has space to walk around it. Nearby, set up a kid-sizedpaint center with paint bottles, stamps, rags, trays, and smocks.Gather kids at the paint center. Ask everyone to put on a paint shirt. We’ve beentalking about gifts today. Samuel was a gift to Hannah. Today, let’s make somewrapping paper to wrap gifts in. Here’s how we can do it. Begin by showing kidshow to pour the paint into the trays. Show kids how to use one tray compartmentper color. Then demonstrate how to use the paint stamps. Put the stamp in thepaint tray. Lift the stamp out of the paint and press it on the paper. Lift up thestamp and stamp again. Spray themuffin pans with nonstick cooking spray. Show kids what the surprise is. Thesurprise gift in our snack is that in the middle of each muffin will be someyummy strawberry jam. Let me show you how to make the surprise. Fill onemuffin form only halfway with muffin batter. Take a spoonful of jam and drop iton top of the batter. Cover the jam with some more batter. Support kids takingturns spooning the batter into the muffin tins, adding the surprise, and addingsome more batter. When all pans are full, send the muffins off for baking. Whilemuffins are baking, wash hands again, especially if you used raw egg. Also, cleanup the snack table with kids’ help.
