Mark your Bible with a bookmark so that you can easily findtoday’s story.Take out your Spark Story Bible <strong>and</strong> open to God Calls <strong>Samuel</strong> on pages 122–125.Read the story out loud <strong>and</strong> point to the corresponding pictures. Look for Squiggles,the caterpillar, in each picture. Ask kids what they think Squiggles is feeling ordoing. Each time he thought wasEli, until Eli told him to do something. How many times do you think God wakesup <strong>Samuel</strong> in this story? Let’s count them as we read the story together. As youread these parts of the story, keep track on your fingers of how many times <strong>Samuel</strong>is called on.Ask the following questions, allowing time for kids to answer:How many times did God wake up <strong>Samuel</strong>? (four)What would you do if you heard someone’s voice calling you in the middle of thenight?Activate Faith (25 minutes)game: This Is How I Can PrayGather kids in a circle st<strong>and</strong>ing up. Choose one kid to st<strong>and</strong> in the middle of thecircle. As the group chants, the kid in the middle chooses a way to pray. This prayeridea may be serious, silly, typical, or br<strong>and</strong> new. The rest of the kids imitate thisway to pray. When the chant is finished, the kid in the middle picks someone newto lead the chant.
