Getting StartedEntering and Editing InformationThere are several basic keyboard operations that will be repeated throughoutthe manual. These operations are as follows:• Switching between preset values in fields,• Editing fields,• Entering alphanumeric values.For purposes of clarity and briefness, we shall enumerate these proceduresonly once. Where in the manual these procedures are called upon, we shallrefer to the present section.Switching Between Preset Values inFieldsThe simplest type of field entry is to switch betweenpredefined values. As an example, start from theSETUP screen with the CG-5 turned on.This screen appears automatically when the systemstarts or you can press the SETUP button from anyscreen to return to the screen.Press the arrow keys to bring your cursor to theSurvey icon.The word Survey is highlighted, as illustrated below.SurveyPRESSENTERPress the ENTER key. Understanding Instrument BasicsStartupPress either the left or right arrow to change thedesignation system to LAT / LONG or anothersystem such as NSEWm.Entering Alphanumerics, Example 1The alphanumeric keys allow you to enter fourcharacters per key.
