Thus Mainstreet, which passes the capitol park on its south side, isdivided into East and West Main from where it crossesMonona avenue; Carroll street skirts the western sideof the park ; it is North and South Carroll from its crossingat W. Washington avenue. Mifflin on the northside becomes East and West Mitfiin from Wisconsinavenue. Pinckney passes the park on the east and isdivided into South and North Pinekney by marketsquare, the head of E. Washington avenue.All streetsparallel to these are similarly divided and similarly named.Our streets were originally named for the signers of theconstitution of the United States.Hancock street,Langdon street, Pinckney street, Rutledgestreet, etc.cars.Hence such names asTour Number T-wo.To THE University and W^estern end of the City.We may continue the tour of the city by the streetThese run on a twelve-minute schedule and passthe park on all sides. From where we are now standingat the head of Monona avenue, the linewill take usto both the eastern and the western limits of the city.We will board a west-bound car, ride down Carrollstreet to State street and the University of Wisconsin.
