The numerous campersabout the shore of Mendota reach their cottagesand bring their supplies by this steamer.
PARKS AND DRIVES.6lThe launch Putter 11.makes many trips per day fromthe City boat house, foot of N. Carroll street to the wharfof the Maple Bluff Golf Club. Campers and others desiringto reach Maple Bluff may ride in this launch.We have described the principal buildings and pointsof interest in the city and its surroundings and the easiestroutes by which they may be visited.mention a few other things of importance.Fishing and Hunting.It remains toMadison lakes are celebrated far and wide for theirexcellent fishing. Pickerel are caught up to eighteenpounds in weight; the small mouthed black bass andthe yellow bass weighing six and seven pounds are plentiful.White bass and perch are abundant and may beseen of a still evening rippling the water in schools.Fishing tackle and bait can be obtained at the boatliveries. Hunters have good sport with ducks, geese,mallard, quail and rabbits. Licenses to shoot must betaken at the office of theSecretary of State.The State Fish HatcheryIs located on the Fitchburg road five miles southwest ofMadison.
