The Opening Ceremony will befollowed by a Welcome Reception at the <strong>Congress</strong> Centre,in the exhibition in the Foyers on the 2nd Floor, with localfood.e CONGRESS OPERA PERFORMANCEDON GIOVANNIMonday, 10 Sept 2012 e 20:00Estates TheatreThe Estates Theatre, centrally located between the OldTown Square and the Wenceslas Square, is regarded asone <strong>of</strong> the most beautiful historic theatre buildings inEurope and dates from 1783. It was designed by AntonHaffenecker and built in little less than two years for thearistocrat František Antonín Count Nostitz Rieneck. Thebuilding itself was constructed in a Neoclassical style andremains one <strong>of</strong> the few <strong>European</strong> theatres to be preservedin its almost original state to the present day.The name <strong>of</strong> W. A. Mozart is forever linked to the building.The musical genius, whose fortunes <strong>of</strong> life, art inspirationsand work had such a dramatic impact on thecity <strong>of</strong> Prague, personally conducted the premiere <strong>of</strong> DonGiovanni in 1787 at the Estates Theater to a packed house.Mozart operas – Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute, Cosi fantutte and Le nozze di Figaro – are still in the repertoire.You will get to enjoy Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni duringan exclusive <strong>ECP</strong> performance, which you can book ticketsfor.e CONGRESS PARTYWednesday, 12 Sept 2012 e 20:00St. Agnes MonasteryJoin the Grand Finale <strong>of</strong> the <strong>24th</strong> <strong>ECP</strong> – the <strong>Congress</strong> Partyat the impressive St. Agnes Monastery. This convent, togetherwith neighbouring St. Francis Church, is proba blyone <strong>of</strong> the most ancient Gothic buildings and significantconvents in Bohemia. It is located in the Old Town <strong>of</strong> Prague.St. Agnes <strong>of</strong> Bohemia Convent is a complex <strong>of</strong> two mainbuildings – the convent <strong>of</strong> Poor Clares and a small Franciscanmonastery. You can find there also St. Francis Church,the Chapel <strong>of</strong> St. Mary Magdalene, St. Agnes’s private oratory,St. Barbora’s Chapel and Premyslid’s mausoleum <strong>of</strong>Holy Saviour.The convent and the church were built between 1231 and1234. The King Wenceslas I. and later on the Pope, tookthe convent under their protection and gave it many privileges.At that time, the convent was <strong>of</strong> the most modernbuildings in Prague. The nuns left the convent during theHussite’s movement. The convent, as many others, wasabolished in 1782 and since then the building decayed.St. Agnes Convent was restored in the 20th century andbelongs to the National Gallery in Prague. An exhibition <strong>of</strong>medieval Central <strong>European</strong>, especially Czech, art is placedthere nowadays.
