A critical aspect tothe phasing is the assembling of properties. Each development parcel issubject to cooperation from the land owners, tenants, University, and thecommunity.PUBLIC / PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT• The parcels will be assembled by the Clifton Heights Community UrbanRedevelopment Corporation (CHCURC) and bid out to privatedevelopers.• Development of the new park will be a collaborative effort betweengovernmental agencies and CHCURC in acquiring and maintainingproperties.• The introduction of a new street (Moerlein St. continuation) andpedestrian way (West Hollister St.) will be achieved through legaltitle that establishes a public right-of-way.• The smaller parcels will be redeveloped on a case by case basiswith assistance provided by private organizations andgovernmental agencies.FUTURE DEVELOPMENT ISSUES(Parcel numbers correspond to page 8)Public projects such as the proposed transit line/station along JeffersonAvenue and a shuttle system within the area will have a positive impact onredevelopment opportunities.In addition, the City of Cincinnati purportedly will be submitting a proposalfor the 2012 Olympics which would entail the use of the University'sathletic and housing facilities. Although the Olympics is a short term event,the overall impact could be long term with the new facilities and animpetus toward developing mass transit sooner than later.Every effort should be made to maintain the highest use at Hughes HighSchool as well as preserving its significant architecture.16
