Mark Benerofe’81 worked with each of these organizationsand,through hisentrepreneurialvision, made substantialcontributionsto their collectivesuccess.Benerofe willbe the keynotespeaker at the2001 Lax Conferenceon Entrepreneurship,tobe held on campuson Sunday,April 1. Lax graduatedwith a B.A. in sociology and anthropology.He later served the College as class agentSTEPHEN DANELIANand reunion leader.Lax was active in the management of SGLIndustries, Inc., his family’s manufacturingfirm, for 10 years. In the mid-1980s, he followedhis own entrepreneurial spirit andfounded the Philadelphia-based marketresearch and consulting company, MarketingAudit.The 2001 conference is also made possiblethrough the generosity of the CharlesBoone Houston II Endowment. The alumnigroup Swarthmore Folk, having discoveredthe trove last year with the help ofKevin Schlottmann ’00, station manager,believe that much of this materialdeserves to be archived digitally in theFriends Historical Library.Twelve-inch 78-rpm and LP copieswere made and sold to students on campusat the time and may be in better conditionthan the original recordings.
