commitment to our community.<br />
Programs and Activities that your donation to Raise the Paddle<br />
will help fund:<br />
$2,500 Kids in the Kitchen Events – Foster children attend cooking<br />
classes and activities as a chef teaches them healthy, fun recipes<br />
to combat childhood obesity.<br />
$2,500 The Northwest Art Project – Brings a collection <strong>of</strong> artwork<br />
to 1,000 children in King County classrooms. Trained <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>League</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Seattle</strong> docents teach critical thinking and communication skills<br />
directly in the classroom with education-based curriculum and<br />
museum-quality art.<br />
$1,500 YWCA – YWCA’s Styles To Shine. With <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>League</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Seattle</strong> members’ help, the YWCA is launching this program in<br />
2012. It will be a closet <strong>of</strong> donated, stylish clothing, shoes, and<br />
accessories that teenage girls will to have access to. This program<br />
will increase the teenagers’ confidence in all areas <strong>of</strong> life, so they<br />
can focus on building their confidence instead <strong>of</strong> what they may<br />
lack in their wardrobe.<br />
$1,000 Youthcare - Provides four meals for approximately 60<br />
youth (at each meal), which JLS members prepare and serve.<br />
These youth, ranging in age from 12 – 24 years old, are atrisk<br />
youth living on the streets and are <strong>of</strong>ten trafficking/child<br />
prostitution victims.<br />
$750 Lifeskills for Teens – Provides one meal, activity, learning<br />
and mentoring opportunity for up to 20 teenage girls in the foster<br />
care system.<br />
