Live #19: “Raise the Paddle” in celebration, dedication and
commitment to our community.
Programs and Activities that your donation to Raise the Paddle
will help fund:
$2,500 Kids in the Kitchen Events – Foster children attend cooking
classes and activities as a chef teaches them healthy, fun recipes
to combat childhood obesity.
$2,500 The Northwest Art Project – Brings a collection of artwork
to 1,000 children in King County classrooms. Trained Junior League
of Seattle docents teach critical thinking and communication skills
directly in the classroom with education-based curriculum and
museum-quality art.
$1,500 YWCA – YWCA’s Styles To Shine. With Junior League of
Seattle members’ help, the YWCA is launching this program in
2012. It will be a closet of donated, stylish clothing, shoes, and
accessories that teenage girls will to have access to. This program
will increase the teenagers’ confidence in all areas of life, so they
can focus on building their confidence instead of what they may
lack in their wardrobe.
$1,000 Youthcare - Provides four meals for approximately 60
youth (at each meal), which JLS members prepare and serve.
These youth, ranging in age from 12 – 24 years old, are atrisk
youth living on the streets and are often trafficking/child
prostitution victims.
$750 Lifeskills for Teens – Provides one meal, activity, learning
and mentoring opportunity for up to 20 teenage girls in the foster
care system.
