• A few micro-level demonstration projects have
minimal impact on the macro scale
• Making a city livable is not always cheap. To
obtain resources and to permit the replication of
successful projects in other cities/dongs, there is
a need for a combination of top-down and
bottom-up planning.
• Community participation is valuable, but it
cannot solve the problem alone
• The role of the business community is critical
(Example: US concept of business improvement
district)
