ANNUAL REPORT Methodist Children’s Home An overview of our ministry Mission Statement • Methodist Children’s Home offers hope to children, youth and families through a nurturing, Christian community. History • Founded in 1890, MCH is a non-profit childcare provider affiliated with the seven United Methodist annual conferences of Texas and New Mexico. MCH serves children from diverse backgrounds, without regard to ethnicity, religion or financial status. Accreditation • The Home is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) and accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) of Services for Families and Children. Residential Group Care • MCH provides residential group care for about 240 youth, ages 12-18, on its Waco campus and Boys Ranch, and through its residential program in Waxahachie. Education • MCH is committed to meeting the individual educational needs of students. Waco campus and Boys Ranch students attend either the University Charter School or public school. Community Services • MCH serves about 170 children and youth through foster care in Texas. • The Home provides a variety of family services through outreach offices across Texas and New Mexico. Transition Services • Staff members work with high school students to help them prepare for college or full-time employment. • MCH provides support services for former residents, ages 18-25, as they adjust to independent living. • Residents who graduate from high school while under the care of the Home are eligible to apply for scholarship assistance to attend a state university or college in Texas. Prevention Services • MCH supports grandparents who serve as the primary caregivers for their grandchildren through the Grandparents As Parents Program. Services include case management, parent education, support groups and limited financial assistance. • MCH provides recreational and educational services to at-risk youth after school and during the summer.
