Methodist Children’s Home<br />
An overview of our ministry<br />
Mission Statement<br />
• Methodist Children’s Home offers hope to children, youth and<br />
families through a nurturing, Christian community.<br />
History<br />
• Founded in 1890, MCH is a non-profit childcare provider<br />
affiliated with the seven United Methodist annual conferences of<br />
Texas and New Mexico. MCH serves children from diverse<br />
backgrounds, without regard to ethnicity, religion or financial<br />
status.<br />
Accreditation<br />
• The Home is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and<br />
Protective Services (TDFPS) and accredited by the Council on<br />
Accreditation (COA) of Services for Families and Children.<br />
Residential Group Care<br />
• MCH provides residential group care for about 240 youth, ages<br />
12-18, on its Waco campus and Boys Ranch, and through its<br />
residential program in Waxahachie.<br />
Education<br />
• MCH is committed to meeting the individual educational needs<br />
of students. Waco campus and Boys Ranch students attend<br />
either the University Charter School or public school.<br />
Community Services<br />
• MCH serves about 170 children and youth through foster care<br />
in Texas.<br />
• The Home provides a variety of family services through outreach<br />
offices across Texas and New Mexico.<br />
Transition Services<br />
• Staff members work with high school students to help them<br />
prepare for college or full-time employment.<br />
• MCH provides support services for former residents, ages<br />
18-25, as they adjust to independent living.<br />
• Residents who graduate from high school while under the care of<br />
the Home are eligible to apply for scholarship assistance to<br />
attend a state university or college in Texas.<br />
Prevention Services<br />
• MCH supports grandparents who serve as the primary<br />
caregivers for their grandchildren through the Grandparents As<br />
Parents Program. Services include case management, parent<br />
education, support groups and limited financial assistance.<br />
• MCH provides recreational and educational services to at-risk<br />
youth after school and during the summer.<br />
