Summer is a time to ... Serve MCH youth enjoy sharing their gifts and talents through summer mission trips and community service projects. Whether it’s building wheelchair ramps on mission trips, visiting local nursing homes or assisting a food pantry, MCH youth experience the joy and blessings that come from serving others. SUMMER MISSIONS PROFILE Youth from the campus in Waxahachie serve their community by helping maintain clean highways. Pictured (l-r) are: Shelby, Rayosha, Kelly, Jessica, Lynn Strom (staff member), Zayda and Terra. MCH youth ‘give back to God’ while serving with U.M. Army Amie and Sam were among 10 MCH youth who volunteered to spend a week of their summer break serving residents in Santa Fe, Texas. MCH youth joined young people from across Texas to participate in the U.M. Army mission trip. The theme of the week was “Act of Worship.” Youth served elderly residents and others who have financial needs by helping with home repairs. They also participated in worship services and enjoyed fellowship as they built relationships with youth from other churches. This was the first mission trip for Amie. The highlight of her week was helping build a ramp for an elderly couple. “We worked all day in the rain and the wife kept coming out to check on us,” she said. “She was so appreciative and thankful. It made me feel good to help her family.” Sam said the week gave her a greater appreciation for MCH. “I realized how much MCH does for us and when I saw others who are going through adversity, it made me realize how thankful I need to be,” she said. “I also learned that when I help people, I’m giving back to God.” Photo: Amie, left, and Samrawit are thankful for the opportunity to serve others through U.M.
