CURTIS, Alvin Kerr
Curtis Alvin Kerr, the youngest of nine
children of James and Jane (Gain) Kerr
of Morin Heights (formerly called Morin
Flats) was born on September 2, 1913
in the village of Morin Heights. He died
peacefully on November 27, 2007 in
his 95th year at The Perley and Rideau
Veterans Health Centre in Ottawa,
Ontario, which was his home for the
last 10 years of his life. Following in his
oldest brother’s footsteps, (Alfred James
Kerr 1895-1969) Curtis enlisted in The
Canadian Army on April 8, 1942, and
served in the 4th Canadian Medical
Regiment and then as a Bombardier in
The Royal Canadian Artillery. He served
in Canada, Britain, Holland, France
and Germany. In October, 1944, he
received a special commendation from
Field Marshall and Commander-in-chief
B.L.Montgomery “for outstanding good
service and great devotion to duty during
the Campaign in France.” He also
received The France and Germany Star.
Following discharge, Curtis returned to
Morin Heights working as a carpenter.
Later he worked for twenty-five years
as a tool and dye maker for Canadair
in Montreal.
Curt married Josephine in England
during the war and later in life married
Jean. Curtis Kerr is survived by his
only daughter, Ann (Kerr) Waller, his
grandsons, Bob Jr. (Christina) and Scott
(Belinda), his three great-grandchildren,
Dean, Cody, and Taylor, as well as nephews
and nieces. He will be remembered
by many. Five and a half years after his
death, Curtis Alvin Kerr is finally coming
home to Morin Heights to be with
his family. He is being re-interred from
Pinecrest Cemetery in Ottawa, to now
rest peacefully with his brother, Alfred
James Kerr with whom he served in
England during the war. Curtis will be
honoured with a special Veterans’ Tribute
by The Royal Canadian Legion,
Branch #171 at 11am on Saturday, May
11, 2013 at Hillside Cemetery, Rue. Hillside,
Morin Heights, Quebec.
DOBBY, Eunice Shirley
(nee: Morrison)
February 17, 1922 - April 14, 2013-04-16
Passed away peacefully at Chateau
Westmount in her ninety-second year.
Daughter of the late Alfred and Gertrude
Morrison. Devoted wife of the late
Gerald Dobby. Loving mother of Kevin
(Anne) of Geneva, Glenn (Catherine) of
Toronto, Bruce (Delight) of Montreal,
and Barry (Lillian) of Barrie. Wonderful
Nana to Christine, Timothy, Matthew,
Emily, Ian, Stephen and great-grandson
Gabriel. Dear sister to Elizabeth McLean
and Rathwell (Barbara) Morrison.
Fondly remembered by the Dobby and
Morrison families, David Jones, Suzanne
Boyd and Gail Dobby. We wish to
especially thank the family and friends
in the Arundel area who have helped
Eunice over the past several months
with their generous support and compassion.
Many thanks also to the caring
staff at both Place Kensington and
Chateau Westmount. Friends and family
joined together in a celebration of Eunice’s
life on Saturday, April 27. In lieu

McLAUCHLAN, William Sr.
1944 - 2012
Passed away on June 4, 2012, at the
age of sixty-eight. Sadly missed by his
son, William Jr., and the mother of his
son, Carol Howell. Service to be held
Saturday, June 1 at 1 pm, St. Simeon’s
Anglican Church, 445, rue Principale,
Lachute. Come join us in the celebration
of William’s life.
RYAN, Michael Dylan
July 1, 1967 - April 21, 2013
It is with great sorrow that we announce
the death of Michael Dylan
Ryan. Beloved son of Terry and Michele
Ryan. Loving brother of Caitlin (Jake),
Maureen (Tom) and Melissa (Trevor).
Michael was Director of the Young Cuts
Film Festival and blogged and podcasted
on film. He was also involved with
International Wrestling Syndicate where
he wrote under the pen name Llakor.
SACK, Stanley F.
April 7, 1922 - April 15, 2013
It is with much sadness that we share
the news of the passing of Stanley Sack
at the Cité de la Santé Hospital in Laval,
Quebec on Monday, April 15, 2013 at
the age of 91. He is pre-deceased by
his eldest son, Neil Zach, but leaves
to mourn his daughter Louise and his
son Karl, as well as his two grandsons,
Sean and Luke, as well as many family
members linked together by the Dorman
family. He also leaves to mourn his wife
from his second marriage, Madeleine, as
well as her son Robert Belanger (Yolande).
Stanley is also pre-deceased by his
stepson, Gilbert Belanger (Josée).
Stanley was born and raised in Eganville,
Ontario. His parents were Otto
and Marie Sack. Stanley is pre-deceased
by 3 sisters and their husbands; Ruby
(Walter Levean), Mildred (Conrad Biederman),
Hertha (Eylmer Schieman).
He is survived by his sisters Viola (Fred
Lasalle, deceased) and Dolores (Oscar
Miller, deceased).
Stanley moved from Eganville to Ottawa
where he worked for a number of years
at NRC on special projects for national
defense. Eventually, Stanley moved
to St. Andrews East, Quebec where
he manufactured speedboats with his
partner. He was hired on as an engineer
at Canadian General Electric. After
living in St. Andrews East for over 60
years, Stanley spent his last few years in
a retirement residence in Laval, Quebec
with his wife, Madeleine. He was very
much loved by his family and will be
dearly missed.
There will be a “Celebration of Life
/ Remembering Stan” at the Royal
Canadian Legion Branch 70 in Lachute,
Quebec on Saturday, June 8 at 3 pm.
Family and friends welcome.
