have done a really good job with securing the ball, with breaking up a couple of bad throws that could
have been picks. So both of those have been high notes. ”
(On how he thinks the offense has progressed) “I really didn’t know what to expect. I knew what I saw in
camp and I thought the guys looked really good as a unit. We did some really good stuff in camp and
obviously had three opportunities now to showcase that against an opponent. I think every time, the
guys have stepped up to the challenge. The offensive line has been unbelievable…no sacks tonight,
which is awesome. Guys have really battled and it’s been impressive and fun to be a part of.”
RB Storm Johnson
(On the run game) “It was raining, it was a sloppy night, but we got the job done. There were a couple of
running lanes, a couple of holes that we missed, but we’ll work it out, watch it on film and get better at
it.”
(On the upcoming roster cuts) “That’s nothing I can control. You have to ask the coaches about that
one. I don’t cut people, so I can’t worry about it.”
TE Marcedes Lewis
(On Blake Bortles and his performance) “He’s our leader out there on the field. His heart, man, he’s out
there running, breaking tackles, sliding and somebody comes in and hits him late, he just tosses the ball
to them and it’s like, ‘I’m going to be right back.’ He has that attitude like, “If we don’t get it this play,’
he is in the huddle saying, ‘We’re going to get it right back.’”
RB Denard Robinson
(On offensive efficiency) “I think last week we showed that we could get down the field. This week we
finished it. That’s the biggest thing, you want to finish drives and finish drives in the end zone – not just
a field goal; we want to finish in the end zone. Even though we love Scobee, we want to finish in the end
zone.”
(On Blake Bortles’ third down efficiency) “Credit goes to the offensive line. They did a great job blocking
guys and taking care of the guys behind them. He made plays and the guys outside were catching the
ball. So we were clicking today as an offense. I think we had a great game but we just have to finish it.”
(On getting better all around) “I think you can always get better. That’s one thing that I think for sure –
you can always get better. Just finishing games, we’ve got to finish the games.”
(On the running game) “Credit to [Detroit]. They played great up front and their front seven played well.
They came to the ball and guys were coming down the D-line, so credit goes to them but we just have to
do better up front. We need to do better running the ball. We need to break through arm tackles and do
different things to make us have success running it.”
