A/<strong>Prof</strong>. David Pilcher, <strong>MB</strong> <strong>BS</strong>, MRCP, <strong>FRACP</strong>, <strong>FCICM</strong>,<br />

Monash ICU Practitioner Fellowship<br />

Dave <strong>is</strong> an Intensive Care Special<strong>is</strong>t at <strong>the</strong> Alfred Hospital. He trained in<br />

General and Respiratory Medicine in <strong>the</strong> UK before completing Intensive Care<br />

training in Australia. He <strong>is</strong> also chair of <strong>the</strong> ANZICS Centre for Outcomes and<br />

Resource Evaluation and an Associate <strong>Prof</strong>essor with <strong>the</strong> Department of<br />

Epidemiology and Preventative Medicine at Monash University. H<strong>is</strong> research<br />

interests are in <strong>the</strong> epidemiology and monitoring of Intensive Care outcomes,<br />

lung transplantation and organ donation.<br />

Dr Steve McGloughlin, Bsc (Hons), B.Med, <strong>FCICM</strong>, MPH&TM,<br />

PG<strong>Dip</strong>Echo<br />

Steve <strong>is</strong> an intensiv<strong>is</strong>t at <strong>the</strong> Alfred Hospital. Prior to working at <strong>the</strong> Alfred<br />

he trained in intensive care units in <strong>the</strong> United Kingdom, <strong>the</strong> Nor<strong>the</strong>rn Territory<br />

and Queensland, including a paediatric intensive care fellowship. He <strong>is</strong> also an<br />

infectious d<strong>is</strong>eases special<strong>is</strong>t and maintains both clinical and research interests<br />

in infections in critically ill patients. He has a special interest in education<br />

particularly <strong>the</strong> use of simulation and cr<strong>is</strong><strong>is</strong> resource management skills in<br />

critical care and has undertaked fur<strong>the</strong>r training in <strong>the</strong> use of advanced<br />

healthcare simulation. He <strong>is</strong> also <strong>the</strong> convener of two of <strong>the</strong> Alfred ICU post<br />

graduate education courses, in cr<strong>is</strong><strong>is</strong> resource management and in infectious<br />

d<strong>is</strong>eases in intensive care. H<strong>is</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r interests include echocardiography in<br />

which he has a post graduate diploma.<br />

Dr. Vinodh B Nanjayya, <strong>MB</strong><strong>BS</strong>, MD, EDIC, <strong>FCICM</strong>, DDU<br />

(Critical Care)<br />

Vinodh <strong>is</strong> a consultant intensiv<strong>is</strong>t at <strong>the</strong> Alfred hospital, Melbourne. He<br />

completed h<strong>is</strong> ICU fellowship in 2010 and worked as a Fellow in Critical Care<br />

Echocardiography at <strong>the</strong> Alfred ICU. H<strong>is</strong> main area of interest <strong>is</strong> Critical Care<br />

Echocardiography and its use in patients on extra-corporeal life support. H<strong>is</strong><br />

o<strong>the</strong>r special interests include echocardiography education, ICU epidemiology,<br />

Research and Biostat<strong>is</strong>tics. He <strong>is</strong> involved as a study co-investigator in a<br />

number of research projects at <strong>the</strong> Alfred ICU. He <strong>is</strong> <strong>the</strong> main co-ordinator of<br />

Alfred ICU Critical Care Ultrasound education and <strong>is</strong> <strong>the</strong> joint co-ordinator of<br />

Alfred ICU junior medical staff education programme. He <strong>is</strong> involved in teaching<br />

in many of <strong>the</strong> Alfred ICU courses and <strong>is</strong> an ALS instructor. He <strong>is</strong> also involved<br />

in <strong>the</strong> development of Alfred ICU on-line learning packages for junior medical<br />

staff.<br />

In 2012, he was awarded <strong>the</strong> <strong>Dip</strong>loma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (Critical Care)<br />

from <strong>the</strong> Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM)
