A/<strong>Prof</strong> Geoff Frawley, <strong>BS</strong>c, <strong>MB</strong> <strong>BS</strong>, FANZCA, <strong>Dip</strong> RACOG,<br />

<strong>Dip</strong> <strong>DHM</strong><br />

<strong>is</strong> a Hyperbaric Physician at <strong>the</strong> Alfred Hospital. He <strong>is</strong> also a<br />

Senior Paediatric Anaes<strong>the</strong>t<strong>is</strong>t at <strong>the</strong> Royal Children’s Hospital<br />

and a Clinical Associate <strong>Prof</strong>essor in <strong>the</strong> Department of<br />

Paediatrics, Melbourne University. He has received a number of<br />

research grants, including an ANZCA Project grant and two<br />

NHMRC grants in which he <strong>is</strong> an associate investigator in one<br />

and a chief investigator in <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r. He <strong>is</strong> widely publ<strong>is</strong>hed, and<br />

has given many invited presentations, both overseas and within<br />

Australia. H<strong>is</strong> research interests include paediatric hyperbaric<br />

oxygen <strong>the</strong>rapy, anaes<strong>the</strong>tic neurotoxicity in <strong>the</strong> neonate, local<br />

anaes<strong>the</strong>tic pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and<br />

anaes<strong>the</strong>sia for congenital syndromes.<br />

Dr Ian Millar, <strong>MB</strong><strong>BS</strong>, FAFOEM, FUHM, <strong>Dip</strong> <strong>DHM</strong>, Cert <strong>DHM</strong><br />

Is a Hyperbaric physician at <strong>the</strong> Alfred Hospital, with 28 years of<br />

experience in diving and hyperbaric medicine. He <strong>is</strong> Principal<br />

Investigator for an international multicentre study of hyperbaric<br />

oxygen in severe musculoskeletal trauma, <strong>the</strong> HOLLT study<br />

(NHMRC Project Grant 490966). He <strong>is</strong> regularly invited to speak<br />

at international meetings on <strong>the</strong> role of hyperbaric oxygen in<br />

trauma and on hyperbaric chamber and hyperbaric medical<br />

equipment safety and design. He <strong>is</strong> one of <strong>the</strong> few diving<br />

medicine doctors with experience and expert<strong>is</strong>e in offshore<br />

industry diving medical support, including saturation diving. He<br />

<strong>is</strong> involved in various commercial and recreational diving<br />

standards setting bodies, including Standards Australia, <strong>the</strong><br />

Australasian Diver Accreditation Scheme and <strong>the</strong> International<br />

Marine Contractors Association Diving Medical Adv<strong>is</strong>ory<br />

Committee. He continues to serve as a medical adv<strong>is</strong>or to a<br />

range of diving, hyperbaric and tunneling safety and research<br />

related bodies. He also provides medical oversight for <strong>the</strong><br />

Metropolitan Fire Brigade's involvement in Victoria's early<br />

defibrillation program and consults to various governments<br />

regarding technical specifications for new hyperbaric facilities.<br />

As a younger doctor, he had operational involvement in rescue<br />

and emergency services and remains interested in mountain,<br />

marine and extreme environment physiology and search and<br />

rescue related medical support.<br />

In 2013, he was awarded a Fellowship in Undersea and<br />

Hyperbaric Medicine by The Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical<br />

Society.
