From just south of Dog Lake

It was a wonderful day to be in
the Wasatch with a great group.

On August 12, 2012,
three hikers climbed
Neff’s Canyon, from 9:30
to 12:30. This canyon
offers a spectacular
view of the valley and a
refreshing pause in the
shade. Because of the
dry summer, there was
no water in the stream
or pond at the entrance.
Vegetation was quite
dry. The parking lot was
full of cars, dogs, and
people. The Jeep trail was

covered on both sides,
every two feet, with dog
feces. This is despite the
free doggie bags at the
trailhead entrance. We
also passed residents
who were carrying out
debris, and concerned
about the Forest Service
allowing campfires in
the area. Overall, it was
an enjoyable morning.
