silver, manufactured or not, jewels, precious stones, and other valuable<br />

articles. All publications (books, newspapers, periodicals and other printed<br />

matter) which are subversive in character and contrary to the democratic<br />

order of Uruguay.<br />

Parcel Despatch Note.<br />

Items prohibited for letter-post (see above); Letters; gold and silver coin,<br />

except ancient coins (not over 10 per parcel) for collections; worn clothing<br />

unless accompanied by a certificate of disinfection (a statement from a<br />

commercial firm to the effect that the articles have been disinfected or dry<br />

cleaned will suffice).<br />

Restrictions apply to the importation of certain plants, roots fruit and so on.<br />

An official Certificate of disinfection issued by a competent medical authority<br />

must be enclosed with each parcel containing worn clothing.<br />

There are many difficulties involved in sending gift parcels and senders are<br />

advised to ensure that they comply with the regulations enforced in Uruguay<br />

before parcels are sent.<br />

Parcels are not delivered to the place of address. Addressees are notified of<br />

the arrival of parcels and are advised to collect them; a small fee is payable<br />

for this service in addition to any warehousing charges.<br />

To expedite the clearance through customs of postal items containing<br />

goods, CN 22 and Parcel Despatch Note must be completed correctly. They<br />
