KRISTI
Kristi Painter enters her third season as an assistant coach
for the 49ers softball squad. Her duties include overseeing
the offense and outfielders.
During the 2010 season, Painter helped Serena Smith
surpass Charlotte’s career RBI mark, pushing her career
total to 126, and outfielder Briana Gawltney earn a spot on
the conference’s all-conference team. In her first season as
an assistant coach for the 49ers, Painter helped to improve
Charlotte in several offensive categories including; batting
average, home runs, slugging percentage and on-base
percentage.

Prior to joining her alma mater’s coaching staff on August 1, 2008, Painter was the Head Coach at nearby
Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, N.C., while also coaching a summer softball team and giving private
softball instruction.
At Charlotte, Painter lettered from 2004-07, where she was a standout for the Niners by twice being named a
First Team All-Atlantic 10 performer. She holds both the career (20) and season home run records (11, 2006).
Painter was key to the 2007 team, who appeared in Charlotte’s first ever A-10 Championship game, by being
named to the A-10 All-Tournament team, after hitting .538 in four games with three RBI. She wrapped up a
solid career in 2007 with 105 career RBI, which sits in third place overall on the school’s all-time list.
A native of Concord, N.C., Painter graduated in December 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grades
Education. Painter, formerly Kirsti Killough, is married to Michael Painter.
