The Niners win 42 games, the most in school history, while capturing the regular season Atlantic 10 Championship in their first year in the conference with a 17-3 record in A-10 play. 2007: (34-27) -- Team MVP and All-Atlantic 10 selection Becky Matthews hit .341, just behind fellow honoree Kristi Killough en route to a 8-7 conference season...While Second Team All-A-10 selection Sarah Malene proved to be a vital addition to the roster, pitchers Kristen Bowen and Christy Murray continued to re-write the record books. 2008: (35-31) -- The 49ers make it to the A-10 Championship game for the first time in team history...Whitney Williams and Sarah Malene were each named to the A-10 All- Conference squad for their standout seasons ...Wins over UNC-Chapel Hill, Georgia Tech, North Florida and Miami (Ohio) highlighted a 35-win campaign for the Niners... Williams led the squad with a .335 batting average while Katy Hackett set the singleseason strikeout record as a freshman with 187, then teamed up with the rest of the pitching staff to set a new single-season team strikeout record at 332. 2009: (33-16) -- Niners records a 14-4 mark in Atlantic 10 play, which secures them the regular season A-10 runner-up title. Charlotte goes 21-11 at D.L. Phillips, while junior pitcher Emily Jeffery strikes out a program record 294 batters including a program record 15 against St. Bonaventure. Serena Smith leads team in batting average (.363), hits (62) and RBI (37). Jeffery, Smith and Sarah Malene tabbed as First Team All-Atlantic 10 members, while Malene and Smith also named to All-Academic Team. 2010: (40-18) -- Emily Jeffery struck out 342 batters, improving on her own singleseason Charlotte record by 48, leading the 49ers to 40 wins, the third-most in school history. The Niners went 15-5 in conference play, and seniors Keri Palma, Serena Smith and Jeffery received All-A-10 honors. Briana Gwaltney was named to the league’s All- Freshman Team.
