The Self-TAughT New
Delhi-based sculptor, Gagan Vij
says his engagement with this
form of art started early. he cast
his first bronze sculpture at the
age of 13 and thus began his
artistic journey. a graduate from
Delhi University, Gagan gave up
all other commitments and
devoted his life to his art from
2003. human figurines form the
crux of his creative endeavours
while bronze is his material of
choice. The sculptor attempts to
peek into his subconscious in
order to go beyond the manifest
and explore the sub text. Unfazed
by contemporary trends, Gagan’s
work is grounded in classical
ideals of the Indian art form, but
he has the ability to make himself
visible in a modern context.
he has shown his works at several
exhibitions including Yoga Chakra
— a group show organized by
sangeet Nathak academy, New
Delhi (June 2015); Threshold –
group exhibition by Palette Group
(Dec 2013); and ardnareshwar
solo show, ashish Nagpal Gallery,
Mumbai (Nov 2008). additionally,
Gagan has been commissioned
for a number of private collectors,
institutions and public projects.
