generosity and community contributions.<br />

October 17th Breast Cancer Gala Dinner, at<br />

the Ritz-Carlton, will receive a Mammogram<br />

voucher courtesy of Chrissie Tomlinson<br />

Memorial Hospital,” said James Bovell,<br />

Owner/Broker of RE/MAX and director of<br />

the Breast Cancer Foundation. “Prevention<br />

is the key to survival where Breast Cancer<br />

is concerned. We sincerely thank Dr. Steve<br />

Tomlinson and the Chrissie Tomlinson<br />

bringing Breast Cancer awareness to the<br />

forefront and assisting the women of our<br />

local community with this gift of positive<br />

and support to those affected by breast<br />

cancer,” says Shahla Gilman, Finance<br />

and Operations Assistant at the Chrissie<br />

campaign encourages partnerships of<br />

public service organizations, professional<br />

medical associations, and government<br />

agencies working together to promote<br />

breast cancer awareness, share information<br />

on the disease, and provide greater access<br />

screening process and the hospital<br />

is committed to providing as part of<br />

the campaign a significant number of<br />

mammograms to the fundraising efforts.”<br />

Approximately one in eight women will<br />

get breast cancer in their lifetime, with<br />

the risk increasing with age. The first<br />

signs of breast cancer typically show<br />

up on a mammogram before it can be<br />

felt or any other symptoms are present.<br />

Mammograms are among the best early<br />

detection methods. It is recommended<br />

that women in their forties and older have<br />

mammograms every one to two years. It is<br />

also recommended that an early detection<br />

Meals on Wheels provides a nutritionally<br />

balanced meal to home bound, frail,<br />

aged people, and people with physical<br />

and mental disabilities. Meals on Wheels<br />

is planning a fundraising campaign<br />

scheduled for November 20th and 21st.<br />

Volunteers will be collecting funds in front<br />

of high traffic areas such as banks, grocery<br />

stores and hardware stores. Meals on<br />

plan accompany regular mammograms,<br />

with a clinical breast exam completed by a<br />

trained medical professional, in addition to<br />

monthly self-exams.<br />

All proceeds from the Breast Cancer Gala<br />

Dinner will benefit Breast Cancer Initiatives<br />

of the Cayman Islands Cancer Society, the<br />

Lions Club of Tropical Gardens and the<br />

Bosom Buddies.<br />
