Free Psychological Approaches Training (For 3rd Sector Only) - Deadline 30th Oct
I am pleased to make you aware of a new round of the following training for those working in the Third Sector is being
planned for 2016. If you think that your organisation would benefit from training in this evidence based approach and /or
you require more information, then please do not hesitate to contact me Susan Morrison on 07814 896676 or email susan.
morrison@acvo.org.uk by no later than Friday 30th of October 2015. Apologies for the short notice.
In 2014/15 NES (NHS Education Scotland) delivered training in an evidenced based psychological approach for five
Third Sector organisations, with a total of 100 support workers receiving the training. Data gathered from the attendees
demonstrated that 63% of them had no previous training in any psychological approaches. The training was well received
by both the support workers and their clients, who found the approach acceptable and easy to use. The approach built on
the previous relationship that the support workers had with their clients and helped to give a greater understanding of their
clients difficulties. Focus groups were carried out for both the support workers and their clients and these demonstrated that
the approach was being used and that the clients were gaining benefit.
The learning outcomes are:
1. Give an understanding of an evidence based psychological approach
2. Learn how to identify thoughts, feelings and behaviours and how they can affect people
3. Learn how to carry out an evidenced based psychological assessment that can be used to develop a shared
understanding of people’s difficulties
4. Develop a plan to work on together with service users
The training, which is based on Chris Williams materials , was designed for those with mild to moderate depression or
anxiety - so any organisations that work with this client group would be appropriate.
Erasmus+ EU Funding for Adult Education and Youth - Aberdeen
18 November 2015
Copthorne Hotel, 122 Huntly Street, Aberdeen AB10 1SU
Free
This event is a partnership between Education Scotland, YouthLink Scotland and Learning Link Scotland. This is one of two
similar peer learning events in Glasgow and Aberdeen focused on the adult education and youth strands of Erasmus+, the
European Union funded programme for education, training, youth and sport.
This event will provide an opportunity to learn more about the Erasmus+ programme and about some organisations and
partners who have successfully secured funding for projects. Delegates will then have an opportunity to discuss projects,
learn more about the process of applying for funding and a chance to take their first steps towards developing their own
projects and partnerships.
Education Scotland, in conjunction with partners, hope to offer follow up events in early 2016 to provide more practical
support to people completing a funding application. Attendance at this peer learning event combined with other learning
such as an application surgery, Erasmus+ webinar, MOOC or SALTO training course will together provide a good overview
and practical support.
This event will be held in the Copthorne Hotel, Aberdeen and will run from 10:30 to 15:00.
