Sacha Naude MX 1
Neville Bradshaw MX 1
The start of MX 2 with
Maddy Malan(57) and
Johan Vogelesang (18)
Thompson. Top off-road rider, Louw Schmidt was 2nd
and Rodney Odendaal was 3rd.
The 65cc class saw Camden McLellan qualify 4
seconds quicker than the rest. He was able to win both
heats and secure the 65cc title for a 2nd year in a row.
Jono Mlimi was 2nd, but it was the battle for 3rd that
has interested the people of late. 2 emerging riders
from Swaziland have been battling it out and Blake
Young coming away with a 3rd overall. Ike Klaasen
from Cape Town was 4th, just ahead of another Swazi
rider, Dylan Kirk, who had a great ride in heat 2. The 2
Swazi riders will be hot favourites in 2016.
The MX1 class had become a tight affair at the top
of the leader board, between Kerim Fitzgerald and
Sacha Naude. Kerim bolted out of the start in heat
1 and held off a charge from Sacha Naude and from
Neville Bradshaw through the 20min heat. In heat
2, Kerim got a big gap in the first 2 laps, as his main
rivals all got bad starts. Neville fought back to 2nd
again and David Goosen finished 3rd. With Sacha only
finishing 4th, this left him a little back in the points
going to the final round. This class has been really
competitive and we can’t wait till the final round to
declare a winner.
The High School class saw a new winner in 2015.
Justin Thompson freshly back from the USA, showed
what he has learnt there, with a flawless display of
mistake free riding. The championship contenders
had to fight it out for 2nd, with Charl van Eeden
winning that battle and now heads into the final
round tie on points with Yamaha rider, Dirco Van Der
Westhuizen. Josh Mlimi came off worst with bike
issues in heat 2 and will have to hope for a small twist
of fate in the last round to take the title. It will be hard
and aggressive for sure as these kamikaze pilots
battle for pride and a title.
The national was one of the hottest and most testing
of the year. None the less, the track was as fun as
ever and will remain a favourite for the riders.
