Question 1: Continue upgrading
the village facilities, services,
equipment. and fleet. Keep
improving parks and sports
facilities. Make newcomers
welcome and long time residents
more content. Add better access,
more sidewalks and walking
trails. Continue developing
restaurant and retail projects.
Help our schools excel. Help
our residents find and keep
good local jobs. Keep employers
happy and successful. Keep
growing our warehouseindustrial-transportation
and trucking base. Keep our
budgets controlled and our
income growing, and Obetz can
afford the rewards of successful
planning and management.
Question 2: It has taken us
8-10 years, but the essentials
are in place. Unlike many
comparable towns, we have
far more jobs than residents.
More people commute in
than out. Our income from
employment is more than
adequate to keep the village
solvent and growing. People
who work here get resident's
prices on facility use. We are
working to gain efficiencies
in our water department and
provide our staff with the most
effective equipment we can
afford. Wherever we can, we
keep charges very low or even
free, making Obetz a safe, quiet,
comfortable, and inexpensive
place to live.
Question 1: I am a big supporter
of citizen participatory
budgeting. In early summer I
draft a budget with department
heads to present to the Board
of Trustees. I would like to hold
forums or conduct surveys with
residents of the township to hear
their ideas to help us in creating
the annual budget. Doing more
research for such policy making
could result in the township
obtaining more grants. We could
partner with a college for some
of the needed statistical research
to compile a report. Mailings
would be the largest expense for
such an effort, perhaps a $1000
in total.
Question 2: Clinton Township
residents approved a Joint
Economic Development Zone
recently. This provides an
exciting opportunity for the
township to be more innovative
in attracting more economic
revenue in our municipality.
We have partnered with City
of Grandview and the JEDZ
Board meets regularly to help
coordinate how these new
revenues should be invested. I
am most interested in bottom
up types of development that
leverage existing resources.
Question 1: I believe the ideal
policy for Clinton Township is to
maintain the excellent services
it provides to our citizens. The
only financial plan I would
support is renewal of levies
Question 2: As the Fiscal Officer,
I would perform the duties and
not outsource any of the Fiscal
Officer work nor hire anyone to
perform the duties. As I stated
earlier, the only increase I would
support is renewal of levies.
responsibilities. I have served
on many boards, including my
union.
Question 1: Business
development and a
neighborhood emphasis are
essential for our future. I will
always support our safety and
road personnel, who provide
us with excellent services.
Encouragement of locallygrown
businesses, built on
21st century infrastructure,
will stimulate growth through
sustainability, technology and
environmentally-sound design.
We already have the revenue
stream in place to support
infrastructure improvements
like bike and pedestrian paths,
allowing our residents to access
these businesses safely. Most
importantly, such decisions must
be made with community input
on priorities.
Question 2: The township has
been a part of a Joint Economic
Development Zone since 2013.
This agreement generates
revenues available now until
2043. Having reviewed township
financial reports available
online, I advocate timely
implementation of plans for the
strategic use of these funds to
strengthen our neighborhoods,
corridors, and local businesses.
I intend to work to ensure
Township residents have more
input into these plans and
decisions. It is not best for any
community that such decisions
rest solely with the trustees,
particularly in an area with the
diversity of Clinton Township.
Question 1: A Philosophy and
an Organizational Strategy
that allows its employees,
managers, elected officials and
community residents to work
closely together in creative
ways to solve problems related
to their community; to crime,
illicit drugs, social disorder,
neighborhood decay and to
improve the overall quality of
life. The philosophy rests on
the belief that all law abiding
citizens in the community have
the responsibility to participate
in the process to solve problems
and build self¬ reliant
neighborhoods and build a sense
of trust and confidence among
community leaders. Access the
capacity of all departments to
meet those expectations and
common goals.
Question 2: Our financial
policy through resolutions, are
based upon checks and balances
through purchase orders
and warrants authorization,
which involves each individual
departments request for our
administrators review and
approval. Once approved by
our administrator, the request
is then forwarded to each
trustee for review and approval.
Of the three trustees, only
two signatures are required
for approval and our clerk is
also involved in this process
for releasing of said funds.
Portions of our budget involving
General Funds are generated
from state taxes and disbursed
accordingly. Our Police and
Fire Departments operates off
property tax levies. Grants are
researched.
Question 1: The ideal policy
for Madison Township's
neighborhoods is to have a
written publicly accessible
Madison Township Master
Policies (MTMP). When elected
I will submit a resolution
Opportunities and Threats), and
