This course includes professional interior and exterior detailing processes,<br />

including identification of paint condition and types, use of car-care chemicals,<br />

machine polishing, paint surface maintenance, and customer communication.<br />

It also covers roadworthiness, emission controls, and safety inspections.<br />

Students learn theory and hands-on procedures for service and repair of<br />

hybrid, electric, and alternative fuel vehicles. Topics include DC high voltage<br />

systems, regenerative braking, the manufacture and testing of biodiesel<br />

fuel, the unique characteristics of internal combustion engines powered by<br />

alternative fuels and the specialty tools, and safety procedures required for<br />

This course is for students who are employed in a job directly related to their<br />

major and who seek to learn new skills or improve existing skills at work<br />

under the instruction of a <strong>MiraCosta</strong> faculty-mentor. CSU<br />

COREQUISITE: Complete 75 hrs paid or 60 hrs non-paid work per unit.<br />

Enrollment Limitation: Career Center approval. May not enroll in any combination<br />

of cooperative work experience and/or internship studies concurrently.<br />
