Early in his career,<br />
Brent Krysa’s production<br />
of Sondheim’s Assassins<br />
garnered a spot in the<br />
Montreal Gazette’s ‘Top<br />
Ten Productions’ of the year,<br />
and his other productions A Little Night Music<br />
and Company were likewise hailed.<br />
Recent and upcoming projects across Canada<br />
include Mozart’s Le Nozze Di Figaro for Calgary<br />
Opera and Pacific Opera Victoria; Postcard from<br />
Morocco for the Royal Conservatory of Music’s<br />
Glenn Gould School in Toronto; The Merry Widow<br />
for Edmonton Opera; and Il Barbiere Di Siviglia<br />
for Saskatoon Opera.<br />
Other credits include McGill University, Queen<br />
of Puddings, the Lugo Festival in Italy, and the<br />
Canadian Opera Company.<br />
Tadeusz Biernacki<br />
Conductor<br />
This is Mr. Biernacki’s 33rd<br />
season with Manitoba Opera<br />
as Assistant Music Director,<br />
Chorus Master, and<br />
Rehearsal Pianist. He is<br />
also the Music Director and<br />
Conductor of Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet.<br />
Mr. Biernacki has performed internationally<br />
as a piano soloist and has conducted orchestras<br />
across Canada and the U.S., as well as in<br />
Tessaloniki, Kaohsiung, and Hong Kong.<br />
Mr. Biernacki has also written orchestral<br />
arrangements for TSO, WSO, SSO, RWB, NAC<br />
Orchestra, Pittsburgh Ballet, Memphis Ballet<br />
and others.<br />
His most recent work as a conductor with<br />
Manitoba Opera includes Così fan tutte,<br />
Candide,The Daughter of the Regiment,<br />
The Barber of Seville, and The Magic Flute.<br />
He has conducted numerous productions for<br />
Saskatoon Opera including Die Fledermaus,<br />
L’Elisir d’Amore, Don Giovanni, Carmen, La<br />
Traviata, La Bohème, Rigoletto, The Marriage<br />
of Figaro, and Don Pasquale, as well as concert<br />
versions of Hamlet and Mignon for Opera<br />
Lyra Ottawa.<br />

Canadian bass-baritone Gordon Bintner has<br />
appeared internationally in a wide range of<br />
concert and operatic repertoire.<br />
Recent engagements include Guglielmo in<br />
Così fan tutte (Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra),<br />
Basilio in Der Barbier von Sevilla (Salzburger<br />
Festspiele - YSP), Handel’s Messiah (New Jersey<br />
Symphony Orchestra), and Junior in Bernstein’s<br />
A Quiet Place (Montreal Symphony Orchestra).<br />
Upcoming engagements include Bach’s Christmas<br />
Oratorio (OSM), Il Conte in Le Nozze di Figaro<br />
(COC Ensemble), Araldo in Otello (Osterfestspiele<br />
Salzburg), and Papageno in Die Zauberflöte<br />
(Michigan Opera Theatre).<br />

Winnipeg-born soprano<br />
Andriana Chuchman’s<br />
current season includes<br />
debuts at the Los Angeles<br />
Opera as Lauretta in Gianni<br />
Schicchi, opposite Placido<br />
Domingo, and the Dallas Opera as Magnolia in<br />
Show Boat. She sings Handel’s Messiah with the<br />
Cincinnati and Edmonton Symphonies, Orff’s<br />
Carmina Burana with the Grand Rapids and<br />
Winnipeg Symphonies, and appears in recital<br />
in Toronto.<br />
Ms. Chuchman made her Metropolitan Opera<br />
debut as Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore, and has since<br />
returned as Valencienne (The Merry Widow),<br />
Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), and Miranda<br />
(The Enchanted Island). Other recent operatic<br />
engagements include Zerlina (Don Giovanni) at<br />
the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Magnolia (Show Boat)<br />
at the Washington National Opera, Olympia<br />
(Les Contes d’Hoffmann) at the Canadian Opera<br />
Company, and as Gretel on the Glyndebourne<br />
Opera Tour in the U.K.<br />
Future seasons will see her debuting at the<br />
Houston Grand Opera, and making returns to<br />
the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago,<br />
and Washington National Opera, among others.
