Brent Krysa*
Director
Early in his career,
Brent Krysa’s production
of Sondheim’s Assassins
garnered a spot in the
Montreal Gazette’s ‘Top
Ten Productions’ of the year,
and his other productions A Little Night Music
and Company were likewise hailed.
Recent and upcoming projects across Canada
include Mozart’s Le Nozze Di Figaro for Calgary
Opera and Pacific Opera Victoria; Postcard from
Morocco for the Royal Conservatory of Music’s
Glenn Gould School in Toronto; The Merry Widow
for Edmonton Opera; and Il Barbiere Di Siviglia
for Saskatoon Opera.
Other credits include McGill University, Queen
of Puddings, the Lugo Festival in Italy, and the
Canadian Opera Company.
Tadeusz Biernacki
Conductor
This is Mr. Biernacki’s 33rd
season with Manitoba Opera
as Assistant Music Director,
Chorus Master, and
Rehearsal Pianist. He is
also the Music Director and
Conductor of Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
Mr. Biernacki has performed internationally
as a piano soloist and has conducted orchestras
across Canada and the U.S., as well as in
Tessaloniki, Kaohsiung, and Hong Kong.
Mr. Biernacki has also written orchestral
arrangements for TSO, WSO, SSO, RWB, NAC
Orchestra, Pittsburgh Ballet, Memphis Ballet
and others.
His most recent work as a conductor with
Manitoba Opera includes Così fan tutte,
Candide,The Daughter of the Regiment,
The Barber of Seville, and The Magic Flute.
He has conducted numerous productions for
Saskatoon Opera including Die Fledermaus,
L’Elisir d’Amore, Don Giovanni, Carmen, La
Traviata, La Bohème, Rigoletto, The Marriage
of Figaro, and Don Pasquale, as well as concert
versions of Hamlet and Mignon for Opera
Lyra Ottawa.

Gordon Bintner*
Figaro
Grand Prize winner of
the OSM Standard Life
Competition (2011) and
First Prize and People’s
Choice Award recipient
at the Canadian Opera
Company Ensemble Studio Competition (2012),
Canadian bass-baritone Gordon Bintner has
appeared internationally in a wide range of
concert and operatic repertoire.
Recent engagements include Guglielmo in
Così fan tutte (Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra),
Basilio in Der Barbier von Sevilla (Salzburger
Festspiele - YSP), Handel’s Messiah (New Jersey
Symphony Orchestra), and Junior in Bernstein’s
A Quiet Place (Montreal Symphony Orchestra).
Upcoming engagements include Bach’s Christmas
Oratorio (OSM), Il Conte in Le Nozze di Figaro
(COC Ensemble), Araldo in Otello (Osterfestspiele
Salzburg), and Papageno in Die Zauberflöte
(Michigan Opera Theatre).
Andriana Chuchman
Susanna
Winnipeg-born soprano
Andriana Chuchman’s
current season includes
debuts at the Los Angeles
Opera as Lauretta in Gianni
Schicchi, opposite Placido
Domingo, and the Dallas Opera as Magnolia in
Show Boat. She sings Handel’s Messiah with the
Cincinnati and Edmonton Symphonies, Orff’s
Carmina Burana with the Grand Rapids and
Winnipeg Symphonies, and appears in recital
in Toronto.
Ms. Chuchman made her Metropolitan Opera
debut as Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore, and has since
returned as Valencienne (The Merry Widow),
Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), and Miranda
(The Enchanted Island). Other recent operatic
engagements include Zerlina (Don Giovanni) at
the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Magnolia (Show Boat)
at the Washington National Opera, Olympia
(Les Contes d’Hoffmann) at the Canadian Opera
Company, and as Gretel on the Glyndebourne
Opera Tour in the U.K.
Future seasons will see her debuting at the
Houston Grand Opera, and making returns to
the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago,
and Washington National Opera, among others.
