Robert Mellor of Avalon Station was struck on the head by a and<br />
killed in a mine at Central City .<br />
Beet dump had a very successful season. George Swadley shipped the<br />
greatest amount of beets and E„ E. Sleyster shipped the beets with the highest<br />
sugar content, averaged 21.7% sugar. 313 acres of beets were harvested in<br />
the Arvada community. Joe Connor was supervisor of the dump which opened<br />
October 9.<br />
Arvada Community Organization Committee met and proposed a special<br />
meeting for Monday, November 20th, for purpose of making preliminary plans<br />
for the proposed Community House.<br />

Big plans for $50,000 Community House - hoping WPA funds would cover<br />
a large part of the cost. Need a convention hall to seat 2,000, town office and<br />
library would move in. Kitchen and room for athletic events.<br />
November 30<br />
Fanny Roberts, mother of Percy, died. Born in Cornwall, England and<br />
came to Arvada in 1906. Hit by a car, died of a bloodclot.<br />
Town sent out questionnaire with water bill regarding whether people favored<br />
a uniformed cop for stricter traffic enforcement. Would raise mill levy. $1,900<br />
a year salary.<br />
Electric Company moved to new location on Wadsworth to a building designed by<br />
Newt Olson Lumber.<br />
December 7<br />
About 1,000 people attended the grand opening of the Arvada Electric Co.'s<br />
new office.<br />

December 14<br />
Mollvoy Park sought as site for community building. Beginning this year, the<br />
Iannual Xmas event will be &eld at the park instead of at the corner of Grand View<br />
and Wadsworth. The Arvada Garden Club will sponsor a planting in Mcllvoy<br />
of a blue spruce to be used as a permanent Christmas tree for the Arvada Community.<br />
Tree was donated by Tollesson Nurseries and will be moved by<br />
Charles Wilmore of the Green Bower Nursery.
