‣ ¾ Look for ways to <strong>in</strong>corporate h<strong>and</strong>s-on learn<strong>in</strong>g experiences for students <strong>in</strong>to your practice.<br />

‣ ¾ Embrace learner-centred practice <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>teract with students to ascerta<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir strengths <strong>and</strong><br />

preferences when it comes to learn<strong>in</strong>g experiences.<br />

‣ ¾ Emphasize possible practical applications (e.g., “real-world”) when <strong>in</strong>troduc<strong>in</strong>g abstract or<br />

<strong>the</strong>oretical concepts.<br />

Give children a chance to<br />

• learn a job, <strong>the</strong>n do <strong>the</strong> job <strong>and</strong> be paid for it (if this happens for a few weeks, <strong>the</strong>y will<br />

<strong>the</strong>n be able to be successful, because <strong>the</strong>y have seen success; success breeds success)<br />

• be successful with buy<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> sell<strong>in</strong>g items (<strong>the</strong>y need to learn to take pride <strong>in</strong> what<br />

• learn from real-life situations that will help <strong>the</strong>m to do <strong>the</strong> right th<strong>in</strong>gs<br />

(i.e., stay away from dr<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g, drugs etc.)<br />

• learn practical life skills as part of <strong>the</strong>ir daily work at school (more holistic education)<br />
