Purpose: This course is designed to help offenders examine their behavior, attitude, and<br />
actions, and assist in modifying negative behaviors that lead to theft.<br />
Additionally, students will learn how to identify the necessary steps that would<br />
allow them to curb compulsive behaviors and make a positive change in their<br />
lives.<br />
COURT ORDERED.<br />
Note: This course is not for juvenile offenders (under age 18). See Pg. 9 for the Juvenile Shoplifting Course.<br />
Goal: To reduce the reoccurrence of theft and its impact on the individual, the family,<br />
the business and community.<br />
Course Content:<br />
� Cause, effect and consequences of committing theft.<br />
� Impulse control and alternative behavior.<br />
� Taking control and being responsible for one's own attitudes and behaviors.<br />
� Identifying and distinguishing between wants and needs.<br />
� Goal setting and establishing priorities.<br />
� Defining and clarifying personal values.<br />
� Stress management, self-motivation and trust building exercises.<br />
� Identifying and defining positive behavior and attitude for a crime-free life.<br />
Course Format:<br />
� Eight-hour (8) course.<br />
� Uses integrity therapy and behavior modification to explore conduct and the consequences of<br />
negative decisions and actions.<br />
