MOTORCYCLE RIDER PROGRAMS<br />
BASIC RIDER COURSE (BRC)<br />
State of <strong>Florida</strong> Approved<br />
Basic Rider Course is Mandatory for FL Motorcycle License Endorsement<br />
Purpose:<br />
These programs are designed to instill a mental attitude that fosters safe riding,<br />
and teaches defensive riding skills.<br />
Approved by the State of <strong>Florida</strong>.<br />
Basic Rider Course is required by DHSMV in order to obtain a motorcycle<br />
endorsement.<br />
MAY BE COURT ORDERED for traffic offenses on a motorcycle without<br />
endorsement.<br />
Goal: To teach skills and attitudes that enable students to avoid collisions.<br />
� The Basic Rider Course is a 15-hour course, which includes 5 hours of classroom<br />
education and 10 hours of range time (excluding breaks and lunch) on late model<br />
motorcycles provided by FSC.<br />
� Meets DHSMV requirements for license endorsement for those students who<br />
successfully complete both a knowledge exam and a skills test. All further DHSMV<br />
testing is waived.<br />
Course Content:<br />
� Course curriculums are provided by the Motorcycle <strong>Safety</strong> Foundation, as adopted by the State<br />
of <strong>Florida</strong> for the DHSMV motorcycle license endorsement.<br />
� In the Basic Rider Course motorcycles, scooters, helmets, gloves, and workbooks are provided<br />
for students.<br />
� DOT approved helmet, gloves, long sleeves, long pants, and over the ankle footwear are<br />
required.<br />
Course Format:<br />
� Small, interactive, group sessions in the classroom and on State approved training ranges.<br />
Range Locations:<br />
� Brevard, Indian River, Orange and Seminole Counties.<br />

� Advanced registration is required.<br />
This course is approved by the State’s <strong>Florida</strong> Rider Training Program (FRTP)<br />
