Batt Holdings brings latest technology to the
ATV and UTV tyre markets!
Nylon cord layer production- a critical part of tyre production.
Hi-tech compound development
and testing facility.
Batt Holdings, one of SA’s leading providers of race tyres, has
proved its competitive edge once again by launching two brand
new sets of high-tech tyres for the local ATV and UTV markets.
The Terache-branded tyres are manufactured in state-of-the-art
laboratories abroad using dual compounds. Both feature excellent
new tread designs, as well as superior grip, and are proven
to perform well on African-type terrain. Bruce de Kock, owner
of Batt Holdings, comments: “These new tyres are the perfect
complement to our existing range of premium quality tyres - Batt
Blue - which already competes with top global brands. By introducing
Terache products into our stable, we’re showing our
continued commitment to research and development, to testing
new technology, and to providing our clients with choices they
can trust.”
Batt Blue tyres currently service a wide range of racing disciplines,
including off-road, enduro, motocross, ATV and side-xside,
as well as the leisure and commercial tyre sectors. Initially,
the Terache prototype tyres will only cater for clients in the ATV
and UTV markets who have specialised racing requirements.
However, development will continue – in conjunction with Batt
Holdings – until 2018, so that all sectors can benefit from the latest
tyre technology. “Our goal is to provide an extensive, worldclass
service offering to all race enthusiasts, not just those with
unique needs,” explains de Kock. “As a result, within two years,
we’ll offer Terache tyres to the motocross, off-road, kart and e-
bike markets too – though our Batt Blue brand will always remain
our key offering.”
The first Terache, dual compound, prototype product is the T-
Force tyre, a lightweight ATV design that features raised centre
technology for extra bite on one’s early laps. The tyre has a
side knob for perfect cornering and protection and is available
in two sizes – the larger of which offers impact skin protection
technology. UTV riders are catered for with two general purpose
tyres – one with aggressive tread and paddle-style centre knobs,
and the other with a more classic pattern for excellent grip. Both
these tyres offer sidewall protection in deep ruts and also guard
the tyre rim.
Despite rising costs and the new technology involved, Batt
Holdings has committed to keep Terache pricing competitive.
“We view development as an important investment,” says de
Kock. “It would be easy to just import a brand and distribute it to
the local biking industry, but I prefer to be involved in the development
of every tyre that Batt offers.”
