Baragwanath had the pace and experienced no problems with the tricky navigation and was it not for a few little issues that caused him time penalties, an even better result was on the cards for him. Ted is known in local racing for always finishing races and for conserving his quad. Unfortunately he experienced fuel management problems from the start of the race and there was just not enough time to have it sorted out. He pushed through Bolivia when his quad died on him a few times and he needed help to get it going again. Ten days of wet feet was the worst, according to Ted. Trying to sleep in wet bedding sucks. He even got stuck in the sand for six and a half hours in 52°C and watched how many competitors gave up and pressed the buttons on their machines to inform the organisers that they are not racing anymore.
