Where we are, what we’re doing
W’67 Debbie Cade LeCompte is a retired nurse.
She graduated with honors from nursing school
in 1976 and worked in the
Houma area until retiring
10 years ago. She worked
in the local hospital, with
various physicians, in the
home-health field and
as administrator of the
nursing assistant program
at Lafourche Technical
College. She and husband
Glenn celebrated their
47th anniversary in
November. They have
three children and eight
grandchildren and enjoy spending leisure time at
their lake house in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
’75 Sandra Beatty Winchell, executive director
of the Louisiana Developmental Disabilities
Council, has been named as one of 46 people
who will help Gov. John Bel Edwards develop
a plan for expanding Medicaid and addressing
other healthcare issues.
’81 Jennifer Holliday
Tompkins is the recipient of
the 2015 St. Rose Philippine
Duchesne Award from the
Academy of the Sacred Heart
Alumnae Association. The
award is given to a non-alumna
who has given of herself to the
Rosary, the name by which
the New Orleans Sacred Heart
school is affectionately known by the Network
of Sacred Heart Schools in the United States.
Jennifer retired from Sacred Heart in May 2015
after teaching lower school religion and being a
part of the campus ministry team for 13 years. In
2014, she joined with three other former Sacred
Heart religion teachers and published a book,
Rosie and Posy, Let Your Lights Shine, now in its
second printing. The book is a collection of some
of the stories the teachers wrote and told over
the years to students in preschool through fourth
grade. Jennifer and husband Peter are the parents
of three Rosary graduates: Lydia ’05, Page ’09
and Shelley ’11.
’87 Michelle Clare Benoit
graduated in December with a
doctorate of philosophy from
Louisiana State University in
curriculum and instruction.
She is a professor at LSU
teaching education classes.
Her dissertation was entitled
A Comparative Case Study:
How Literature Affects Children Going through
a Traumatic Experience. She is library and
teacher certified. Michelle’s daughter, Claire
Lynch, is a sophomore at SJA.
’89 Zola Marie Bernard Trascher is the director
of Quality Improvement and Health Informatics
for Seton Health Plan in the Ascension Catholic
Hospital System in Texas. She graduated from
Southeastern Louisiana University with a
bachelor of science in nursing. She is an RN
and a certified medical coder and worked as an
emergency room/trauma nurse at Earl K. Long
Hospital in Baton Rouge before pursuing a career
in medical auditing. She worked as a provider/
auditor specialist for the federal government
and Blue Cross Blue Shield and as
an administrator at Humana and
Scott White. Zola has three sons
and lives in Austin.
’92 Paula Duell Northern has
been promoted to the senior
executive sourcing leader of GE’s
Winter 2016 . 17
