Where we are, what we’re doing<br />

W’67 Debbie Cade LeCompte is a retired nurse.<br />

She graduated with honors from nursing school<br />

in 1976 <strong>and</strong> worked in the<br />

Houma area until retiring<br />

10 years ago. She worked<br />

in the local hospital, with<br />

various physicians, in the<br />

home-health field <strong>and</strong><br />

as administrator of the<br />

nursing assistant program<br />

at Lafourche Technical<br />

College. She <strong>and</strong> husb<strong>and</strong><br />

Glenn celebrated their<br />

47th anniversary in<br />

November. They have<br />

three children <strong>and</strong> eight<br />

gr<strong>and</strong>children <strong>and</strong> enjoy spending leisure time at<br />

their lake house in Vicksburg, Mississippi.<br />

’75 S<strong>and</strong>ra Beatty Winchell, executive director<br />

of the Louisiana Developmental Disabilities<br />

Council, has been named as one of 46 people<br />

who will help Gov. John Bel Edwards develop<br />

a plan <strong>for</strong> exp<strong>and</strong>ing Medicaid <strong>and</strong> addressing<br />

other healthcare issues.<br />

’81 Jennifer Holliday<br />

Tompkins is the recipient of<br />

the 2015 St. Rose Philippine<br />

Duchesne Award from the<br />

Academy of the Sacred Heart<br />

<strong>Alumnae</strong> Association. The<br />

award is given to a non-alumna<br />

who has given of herself to the<br />

Rosary, the name by which<br />

the New Orleans Sacred Heart<br />

school is affectionately known by the Network<br />

of Sacred Heart Schools in the United States.<br />

Jennifer retired from Sacred Heart in May 2015<br />

after teaching lower school religion <strong>and</strong> being a<br />

part of the campus ministry team <strong>for</strong> 13 years. In<br />

2014, she joined with three other <strong>for</strong>mer Sacred<br />

Heart religion teachers <strong>and</strong> published a book,<br />

Rosie <strong>and</strong> Posy, Let Your Lights Shine, now in its<br />

second printing. The book is a collection of some<br />

of the stories the teachers wrote <strong>and</strong> told over<br />

the years to students in preschool through fourth<br />

grade. Jennifer <strong>and</strong> husb<strong>and</strong> Peter are the parents<br />

of three Rosary graduates: Lydia ’05, Page ’09<br />

<strong>and</strong> Shelley ’11.<br />

’87 Michelle Clare Benoit<br />

graduated in December with a<br />

doctorate of philosophy from<br />

Louisiana State University in<br />

curriculum <strong>and</strong> instruction.<br />

She is a professor at LSU<br />

teaching education classes.<br />

Her dissertation was entitled<br />

A Comparative Case Study:<br />

How Literature Affects Children Going through<br />

a Traumatic Experience. She is library <strong>and</strong><br />

teacher certified. Michelle’s daughter, Claire<br />

Lynch, is a sophomore at SJA.<br />

’89 Zola Marie Bernard Trascher is the director<br />

of Quality Improvement <strong>and</strong> Health In<strong>for</strong>matics<br />

<strong>for</strong> Seton Health Plan in the Ascension Catholic<br />

Hospital System in Texas. She graduated from<br />

Southeastern Louisiana University with a<br />

bachelor of science in nursing. She is an RN<br />

<strong>and</strong> a certified medical coder <strong>and</strong> worked as an<br />

emergency room/trauma nurse at Earl K. Long<br />

Hospital in Baton Rouge be<strong>for</strong>e pursuing a career<br />

in medical auditing. She worked as a provider/<br />

auditor specialist <strong>for</strong> the federal government<br />

<strong>and</strong> Blue Cross Blue Shield <strong>and</strong> as<br />

an administrator at Humana <strong>and</strong><br />

Scott White. Zola has three sons<br />

<strong>and</strong> lives in Austin.<br />

’92 Paula Duell Northern has<br />

been promoted to the senior<br />

executive sourcing leader of GE’s<br />

<strong>Winter</strong> <strong>2016</strong> . 17
