Angela DiVincenti Babin, a 1998 graduate of St.
Joseph’s Academy, has always thrown parties. As
a student at SJA, Angela loved to host after-dance
get-togethers. “I’d make up any excuse to have
a bunch of people at my house,” she said. “My
mom is a Southern homemaker and big party
thrower. I learned mostly from her.”

internships as she pursued a job in media sales.
But she quickly found the rigid routine to be
unappealing. “I am creative and spontaneous and
over the top,” she said. “I like to mix it up every day.”
Angela moved to Dallas, working several years at
Park Place Bentley. She returned to Baton Rouge
and spent time at The Lod Cook Hotel on LSU’s
campus, then became a kindergarten teacher
in the local public school system. When she
married Daniel Babin in 2011, she knew it was
time to get off the career merry-go-round and
pursue her dream career: event planning.
“I have always wanted to own my own business
and create fabulous events,” she said. “I knew
that if I ever had the opportunity, I was going to
go for it. My husband has always supported my
dream, and I am very fortunate to have a spouse
who has allowed me to do so.”
Angela Marie Events is a full-service planning
company that styles, plans and coordinates any
event. Weddings are Angela’s focus, though
she enjoys the occasional children’s party or
corporate event. “I always tell my clients: The
whole point of hiring me is so you can enjoy
your time being the hostess and not have to
worry about a thing,” she said.
Angela DiVincenti Babin, SJA class of 1998,
garnered the cover of Christmas at Home, a
magazine for Southern Living’s Christmas Special
Collectors’ Edition. The cover features a Christmas
tree and mantel she designed with a variety of plaids.
After graduating in 2002 from Louisiana
State University with a degree in mass
communications, Angela served numerous
Angela had worked with Southern Living on
previous occasions, serving as a stylist on photo
shoots in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans
areas. When an editor remembered that she had
experience decorating Christmas trees, the editor
contacted her. “She emailed me out of the blue
and asked for some Christmas pictures from
past work I had done,” Angela said. “I had no
idea why and didn’t want to ask, so I emailed her
some pictures, and that was that. Weeks later, I
heard back and was told I was chosen as one of
the three designers for the Christmas edition and
Winter 2016 . 23
