St. Joseph’s Academy has established Charism
in Action, a new organization designed to help
students better understand and promote the
charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph. The group’s
first meeting was held November 3 in the Chapel
at SJA.
SJA Creates Charism in Action Group
Students heard from Sister Adele Lambert,
former SJA president, about the history and
charism of the Sisters. Also speaking to the group
were Dr. Greg and Mrs. Debbie (Kleinpeter ’77)
administration to join students from sister
schools in Cleveland, Ohio, and LaGrange Park,
Illinois, for the weeklong conference.
Charism in Action is open to any SJA student
who wants to enjoy a closer relationship with
the Sisters; gain a better understanding of their
charitable work and love of the dear neighbor;
work in unity to carry out the Sisters’ ideals; and
be part of an organization that may serve as a
precursor to becoming an Associate, which they
must be 18 to pursue.
Ten members of Charism in Action will be
selected to participate in next summer’s CSJ/SSJ
Student Leadership Conference, to be held in
Kansas City, Missouri.

Gelpi, who are CSJ Associates. This group of men
and women embrace the charism of unity and
reconciliation and participate in the mission of
the Sisters in their daily lives.
Also speaking to the gathering were seniors Lily
Rennhoff and Gloria Alvarado, who participated
in the inaugural CSJ/SSJ Student Leadership
Conference in Philadelphia this summer. They
were among 10 students selected by the SJA
