Karen Baudin Allen, a 1984 graduate of St.<br />
Joseph’s Academy, will be among the 28<br />
Catholic school graduates honored at the <strong>2016</strong><br />
Distinguished Graduates Awards Dinner, hosted<br />
by the Catholic Schools Office of the Diocese.<br />
The dinner/awards banquet will be held Monday,<br />
February 1, at The Renaissance.<br />
Karen Baudin Allen Named SJA’s<br />
Distinguished Graduate<br />
Karen is president of Senior Services Division,<br />
Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health<br />
System. In her role, she provides executive<br />
leadership <strong>and</strong> oversight to<br />
services offered to senior<br />
populations by the health<br />
system <strong>and</strong> sponsored hospital<br />
organizations. She also serves as<br />
executive director of Programs<br />
of All-Inclusive Care <strong>for</strong> the<br />
Elderly (PACE) in Baton Rouge<br />
<strong>and</strong> Lafayette. She oversees<br />
implementation of all aspects of<br />
the program <strong>and</strong> is responsible<br />
<strong>for</strong> determining appropriate<br />
operational strategies <strong>and</strong><br />
interfacing between the<br />
Louisiana Department of Health<br />
<strong>and</strong> Hospitals <strong>and</strong> the Centers<br />
<strong>for</strong> Medicare <strong>and</strong> Medicaid<br />
Services.<br />
With more than 25 years of<br />
experience in the healthcare<br />
profession, Karen has initiated<br />
<strong>and</strong> established a number<br />
of innovative programs <strong>and</strong> services. She has<br />
incorporated strategic planning <strong>and</strong> daily<br />
operational skills on the organizational <strong>and</strong><br />
departmental levels <strong>and</strong> has overseen all fiscal<br />
responsibilities <strong>for</strong> enhancing organizational<br />
per<strong>for</strong>mance. She serves as a lead liaison between<br />
the medical center <strong>and</strong> numerous organizations,<br />
governmental agencies, church <strong>and</strong> civic groups.<br />

Numerous community organizations have<br />
benefited from Karen’s volunteer service,<br />
including the American Heart Association,<br />
United Way, Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention<br />
<strong>and</strong> Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area.<br />
She has served St. Joseph’s Academy in many<br />
capacities, including as chair of the SJA Board<br />
of Directors; chair of the Search <strong>and</strong> Selection<br />
Committee <strong>for</strong> a new principal; past Phonea-Thon<br />
chair; <strong>and</strong> member of the Strategic<br />
Planning Executive Committee <strong>for</strong> the school’s<br />
most recent strategic plan.<br />
Embodying the charism of the<br />
Sisters of St. Joseph in all that<br />
she does, Karen is a woman<br />
<strong>for</strong> others in her service to her<br />
community, church, work <strong>and</strong><br />
her alma mater.<br />
“I believe that Catholic<br />
education is the cornerstone of<br />
developing the whole person<br />
with the focus of underst<strong>and</strong>ing<br />
the life of Christ <strong>and</strong> how we<br />
as Christians continue these<br />
learnings throughout our<br />
life’s journey,” Karen said.<br />
“This education enables one<br />
to establish personal values,<br />
meaningful prayer, enhance our<br />
faith <strong>and</strong> be of service to others.”<br />
Karen is a 1990 graduate of<br />
Louisiana State University with a bachelor’s of<br />
science degree in secondary education. She also<br />
holds a master’s of science from LSU.<br />
