Karen Baudin Allen, a 1984 graduate of St.
Joseph’s Academy, will be among the 28
Catholic school graduates honored at the 2016
Distinguished Graduates Awards Dinner, hosted
by the Catholic Schools Office of the Diocese.
The dinner/awards banquet will be held Monday,
February 1, at The Renaissance.
Karen Baudin Allen Named SJA’s
Distinguished Graduate
Karen is president of Senior Services Division,
Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health
System. In her role, she provides executive
leadership and oversight to
services offered to senior
populations by the health
system and sponsored hospital
organizations. She also serves as
executive director of Programs
of All-Inclusive Care for the
Elderly (PACE) in Baton Rouge
and Lafayette. She oversees
implementation of all aspects of
the program and is responsible
for determining appropriate
operational strategies and
interfacing between the
Louisiana Department of Health
and Hospitals and the Centers
for Medicare and Medicaid
Services.
With more than 25 years of
experience in the healthcare
profession, Karen has initiated
and established a number
of innovative programs and services. She has
incorporated strategic planning and daily
operational skills on the organizational and
departmental levels and has overseen all fiscal
responsibilities for enhancing organizational
performance. She serves as a lead liaison between
the medical center and numerous organizations,
governmental agencies, church and civic groups.
Karen Baudin Allen ’84 is SJA’s
Distinguished Graduate for 2016.
Numerous community organizations have
benefited from Karen’s volunteer service,
including the American Heart Association,
United Way, Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention
and Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area.
She has served St. Joseph’s Academy in many
capacities, including as chair of the SJA Board
of Directors; chair of the Search and Selection
Committee for a new principal; past Phonea-Thon
chair; and member of the Strategic
Planning Executive Committee for the school’s
most recent strategic plan.
Embodying the charism of the
Sisters of St. Joseph in all that
she does, Karen is a woman
for others in her service to her
community, church, work and
her alma mater.
“I believe that Catholic
education is the cornerstone of
developing the whole person
with the focus of understanding
the life of Christ and how we
as Christians continue these
learnings throughout our
life’s journey,” Karen said.
“This education enables one
to establish personal values,
meaningful prayer, enhance our
faith and be of service to others.”
Karen is a 1990 graduate of
Louisiana State University with a bachelor’s of
science degree in secondary education. She also
holds a master’s of science from LSU.
