Chaffey Presents ‘Shakespeare In Song’
The Chaffey College
Chamber and Concert
Choirs will present their
spring concert, Shakespeare
in Song, the first weekend of
May. The program, which
commemorates the 400th
anniversary of the death of
William Shakespeare, will
feature settings of texts from
the Bard’s poems and plays, as
well as works inspired by the
man praised by many as the
greatest writer in the history of
the English language.
The repertoire ranges from
the 16th to the 21st century,
and includes works by Thomas
Morley, Cristoforo Caresana,
Ralph Vaughan Williams, and
Matthew Harris. Special treats
also include a hilarious trio of
pieces by P.D.Q. Bach (a.k.a. Peter Schickele),
and a medley of beloved songs from Kiss Me,
Kate, Cole Porter’s romping riff on The Taming
of the Shrew.
