Strawberry revelry is ripest when the 2016<br />

California Strawberry Festival celebrates its<br />

33rd seasonal celebration May 21 and 22,<br />

on 15 picturesque acres at Strawberry Meadows<br />

of College Park in Oxnard. It’s an iconic berry<br />

event of epic proportions.<br />

Ranked nationwide among the top outdoor<br />

Festivals, the fruity fete boasts lip-smacking<br />

strawberries every way imaginable, live concerts<br />

on two stages, more than 200 Fine Arts<br />

& Crafts booths, the Strawberry Promenade<br />

with celebrity cooking demonstrations, Strawberryland<br />

For Kids with rides and attractions,<br />

and wholesome, gooey contests, appealing to<br />

all ages.<br />

An estimated 1.5 million strawberries will be<br />

consumed over the weekend where the region’s<br />

most prolific crop is the main ingredient for fun.<br />

If you haven’t had strawberry pizza alongside a<br />

strawberry beer, you haven’t been to the Festival.<br />

Or perhaps the strawberry nachos, strawberry<br />

funnel cake, strawberry crepes, chocolate dipped<br />

The City of Yucaipa will host the 5th Annual<br />

Yucaipa Music and Arts Festival, May<br />

13-15, in the Historic Uptown District.<br />

Thousands will gather to enjoy a musical explosion<br />

that promises to leave all in anticipation for<br />

next year.<br />

With this Festival, the City brings together<br />

various styles of music for three fun-filled days<br />

of lyrical pleasure. The Festival is sure to draw<br />

thousands of people for a full weekend of fun and<br />

relaxation.<br />

The Yucaipa Music and Arts Festival’s appeal<br />

as an affordable family event is one of many reasons<br />

it is quickly becoming a premier event in the<br />

Inland Empire and in Southern California.<br />

This year’s festivities will offer a lineup of classic<br />

rock and country themed musical entertainment<br />

with a feature performance by classic rock<br />

legend Starship featuring Mickey Thomas and<br />

The Romantics. The entertainment will also star<br />

of the Historic Uptown by visiting local farmers’<br />

market booths, participating in the “Taste of Our<br />

Town,” and cheer on your favorite youth band in<br />

the Band Slam competition. Watch adult tricycle<br />

racing, sponsored by the local Rotary Club or<br />

be mesmerized by the roaming entertainment.<br />

If precious stones and art is your interest, then<br />

the Gem and Mineral Show and Artists’ Row is<br />

a must see! This year the City has partnered with<br />

the Women’s Club, located on Adams and Ave A,<br />

to offer a nice cool place to hold the Flower Show.<br />

Don’t forget the kids! There’s plenty for them<br />

to do with carnival rides, a kids zone, and a<br />

dedicated youth stage. If you’re hungry, no need to<br />

leave the event, a wide variety of food vendors will<br />

be on hand to satisfy your taste buds. These are<br />

just a few of the activities planned for the event, so<br />

take a look around and see all that is in store for<br />

the 2016 Yucaipa Music and Arts Festival.<br />

Event attendance and parking is free. Tickets<br />

and wristbands will be sold for carnival rides and<br />

certain event attractions and a beer and wine garden<br />

will be available Friday thru Sunday for those<br />

over 21 years of age.<br />

feeling of Fallbrook while enjoying over 450<br />

booths and many other attractions, including<br />

food courts that include some amazing avocado<br />

foods.<br />

Returning this year is Avocado Central,<br />

located right in the middle of it all, at Main and<br />

Alvarado Streets. Here you can learn about the<br />

many avocado varieties, and even purchase the<br />

prized fruit and plants to grow at home. This is<br />

a “must visit” for the true avocado fan.<br />

The Artisan Walk on Alvarado, a block-long<br />

venue of local artisans displaying their unique<br />

creations, is another popular side excursion at<br />

the festival. Visitors are encouraged to visit this<br />

area on Alvarado to enjoy their offerings.<br />

Children’s activities abound, with contests<br />

like the Avo 500 Races, Best-Dressed Avocado,<br />

and the Little Miss and Mister Avocado<br />

Contest. These take place at the Community<br />

Stage on Main at Elder Street — a family-style<br />

entertainment area. Another festival favorite<br />

taking place at the Community Stage is the<br />

Guacamole Contest (Professional and Amateur<br />

categories). Awards and recognition are given for<br />

the Best Tasting and Best Presentation in each<br />

category. Judges include local “celebrities.” Local<br />

talent and family entertainment performances<br />

take place on the Community Stage throughout<br />

the day in addition to the contests. There will<br />

also be a Kids Carnival area that will be held in<br />

April, 2016 Inland Entertainment Review<br />

the Joe’s Hardware parking lot, complete with<br />

rides and games.<br />

A shaded beer and margarita garden will host<br />

all-day music provided by a variety of local musicians,<br />

and will also be a place to sit and relax<br />

for awhile. Entertainment schedules are posted<br />

on the Avocado Festival page of the Fallbrook<br />

Chamber of Commerce in early April.<br />

Free parking, shuttles and admission help<br />

make this a fun and entertaining family outing.<br />
