33rd Annual California Strawberry Festival Is A
Traditional Tasty Tribute In The Golden State
Strawberry revelry is ripest when the 2016
California Strawberry Festival celebrates its
33rd seasonal celebration May 21 and 22,
on 15 picturesque acres at Strawberry Meadows
of College Park in Oxnard. It’s an iconic berry
event of epic proportions.
Ranked nationwide among the top outdoor
Festivals, the fruity fete boasts lip-smacking
strawberries every way imaginable, live concerts
on two stages, more than 200 Fine Arts
& Crafts booths, the Strawberry Promenade
with celebrity cooking demonstrations, Strawberryland
For Kids with rides and attractions,
and wholesome, gooey contests, appealing to
all ages.
An estimated 1.5 million strawberries will be
consumed over the weekend where the region’s
most prolific crop is the main ingredient for fun.
If you haven’t had strawberry pizza alongside a
strawberry beer, you haven’t been to the Festival.

The City of Yucaipa will host the 5th Annual
Yucaipa Music and Arts Festival, May
13-15, in the Historic Uptown District.
Thousands will gather to enjoy a musical explosion
that promises to leave all in anticipation for
next year.
With this Festival, the City brings together
various styles of music for three fun-filled days
of lyrical pleasure. The Festival is sure to draw
thousands of people for a full weekend of fun and
relaxation.
The Yucaipa Music and Arts Festival’s appeal
as an affordable family event is one of many reasons
it is quickly becoming a premier event in the
Inland Empire and in Southern California.
This year’s festivities will offer a lineup of classic
rock and country themed musical entertainment
with a feature performance by classic rock
legend Starship featuring Mickey Thomas and

of the Historic Uptown by visiting local farmers’
market booths, participating in the “Taste of Our
Town,” and cheer on your favorite youth band in
the Band Slam competition. Watch adult tricycle
racing, sponsored by the local Rotary Club or
be mesmerized by the roaming entertainment.
If precious stones and art is your interest, then
the Gem and Mineral Show and Artists’ Row is
a must see! This year the City has partnered with
the Women’s Club, located on Adams and Ave A,
to offer a nice cool place to hold the Flower Show.
Don’t forget the kids! There’s plenty for them
to do with carnival rides, a kids zone, and a
dedicated youth stage. If you’re hungry, no need to
leave the event, a wide variety of food vendors will
be on hand to satisfy your taste buds. These are
just a few of the activities planned for the event, so
take a look around and see all that is in store for
the 2016 Yucaipa Music and Arts Festival.
Event attendance and parking is free. Tickets
and wristbands will be sold for carnival rides and
certain event attractions and a beer and wine garden
will be available Friday thru Sunday for those
over 21 years of age.

feeling of Fallbrook while enjoying over 450
booths and many other attractions, including
food courts that include some amazing avocado
foods.
Returning this year is Avocado Central,
located right in the middle of it all, at Main and
Alvarado Streets. Here you can learn about the
many avocado varieties, and even purchase the
prized fruit and plants to grow at home. This is
a “must visit” for the true avocado fan.
The Artisan Walk on Alvarado, a block-long
venue of local artisans displaying their unique
creations, is another popular side excursion at
the festival. Visitors are encouraged to visit this

area on Alvarado to enjoy their offerings.
Children’s activities abound, with contests
like the Avo 500 Races, Best-Dressed Avocado,
and the Little Miss and Mister Avocado
Contest. These take place at the Community
Stage on Main at Elder Street — a family-style
entertainment area. Another festival favorite
taking place at the Community Stage is the
Guacamole Contest (Professional and Amateur
categories). Awards and recognition are given for
the Best Tasting and Best Presentation in each
category. Judges include local “celebrities.” Local
talent and family entertainment performances
take place on the Community Stage throughout
the day in addition to the contests. There will
also be a Kids Carnival area that will be held in

the Joe’s Hardware parking lot, complete with
rides and games.
A shaded beer and margarita garden will host
all-day music provided by a variety of local musicians,
and will also be a place to sit and relax
for awhile. Entertainment schedules are posted
on the Avocado Festival page of the Fallbrook
Chamber of Commerce in early April.
Free parking, shuttles and admission help
make this a fun and entertaining family outing.
