EXHIBITION BRIEFS<br />

AS2 system features multiple unique design elements,<br />

most notably that the main screen loudspeakers are<br />

located above a curved, solid screen rather than behind<br />

a perforated screen. This technology improves both<br />

sound and picture quality, providing more image<br />

brightness, ensuring no moiré patterns in the projected<br />

image, and eliminating the degradation that takes<br />

place when sound passes through a perforated screen.<br />

Over the last decade, the AS2 system and Procella<br />

loudspeakers have been exclusively installed in each<br />

of the premium theaters operated by NCG under the<br />

Finnkino (Finland) and Forum (Baltic) theater brands.<br />

In <strong>2016</strong>, this will be expanded to include theaters in<br />

Sweden and Norway.<br />

NCM NOW REPRESENTS CANNES LIONS<br />

FESTIVALS IN US<br />

n National CineMedia (NCM) has been appointed<br />

as the official representatives of Lions Festivals in the<br />

United States. The Cannes Lions International Festival<br />

of Creativity is a celebration of creativity in communications<br />

and a global meeting place for advertisers and<br />

advertising and communication professionals. Representatives<br />

act on behalf of the festival in their respective<br />

countries, supporting creative agencies and clients to<br />

participate and succeed at the festival. Founded in 1954,<br />

the festival takes place every June in Cannes, France.<br />

Philip Thomas, CEO, Lions Festivals, said, “We<br />

have a network of representatives in 90 countries, and<br />

as a global festival the role that these representatives<br />

play within their own markets is essential to the whole<br />

creative community. We’re delighted to be able to<br />

welcome NCM to that team.”<br />

NCM will take responsibility for the Young Lions<br />

Competitions, holding regional competitions to find<br />

the winning teams that will compete at Cannes Lions,<br />

and will manage the jury nominations from the U.S.<br />

NCM takes over from USA Today, which has represented<br />

Lions Festivals for more than 10 years. Susan<br />

Lilley, who had served as Cannes festival manager for<br />

USA Today, will be joining NCM as director, Cannes<br />

Partnership, in its New York office.<br />

4DX TO DEBUT IN PORTUGAL AND EXPAND<br />

TO EAST CHINA<br />

n CJ 4DPLEX has signed contracts to bring 4DX to<br />

three more multiplex operators: NOS Lusomundo<br />

Cinemas in Portugal, and Shanghai Film Corporation<br />

(SFC) and Bona Cinemas in China. At the end of<br />

2015, 4DX reached 228 auditoriums in 37 countries<br />

and aims to open 200 additional auditoriums in <strong>2016</strong><br />

alone.<br />

4DX’s partnership with NOS will bring the first<br />

4DX auditorium to southern Europe, with audito-<br />
