It is once again my pleasure and privilege to welcome you to our
February issue, which includes our anticipated 2016 Giants of
Exhibition.
Over the years this ranking has become an important component
of our publication’s identity, often regarded not only as a guide
but a point of reference for those who use it and expect its arrival
every year. It is also a fantastic opportunity for our magazine to
recognize the many circuits who open their doors to eager audiences
across the country.
This issue also provides a chance to salute the drive-in theaters as they gather for their
annual convention in Kissimmee, Florida. “Giants” in this case not only refers to
screen or location count, but to the iconic role that drive-ins play in American exhibition.
Working together, the drive-ins have proved that their future is significantly
brighter than the nostalgia associated with them.
Finally, it has been brought to my attention that, besides our Giants of Exhibition issue,
there is another much-anticipated cinema event on the horizon. I won’t make any
bullish predictions about potential winners, but I do expect a positive outcome for our
business: a surge in the general public’s attention to our work—which is always good
for the industry.
