The Presidents report
As I write this report winter is
about to start. We do not store our
cars during the winter, as there are
lot of great drives and social events
organised by our Events and Social
Committees. I would like to see as
many Members as possible at these
events, especially historic plated
registration cars, as it is important to
keep these vehicles moving.
Club events are where these vehicles
belong as we are the custodians of the
Mercedes-Benz brand.
It is with much sadness I announce
the recent passing of our honourable
Club secretary Ken Pitman’s father,
Bill Greenville’s wife Janet and
another long term member John
Franks.
The recent Victorian Concours was
well attended by Vince Thompson,
Matt Kean, Mark Hertz and others
who reported that the day was well
run with some very well prepared
Mercedes-Benz on display.
John Linders is settling in as the
new leader of the Model advisers and
the Club Shop, and merchandise, will
now be run by Charles Mansour.
Executive Committee:
I would like to extend my sincere
thanks to the Executive Committee
for all their hard work in keeping the
Club in smooth running order. At the
last general meeting we had the most
profitable raffle night ever, so thanks
to Mike Fleming for organising this.
Nick Harris, the Sydney German
AutoFest (SGA) events director, will
continue to provide excellent work on
new functions for 2016, along with a
great events team.
Membership:
I am sure that we all know Mercedes-
Benz owners who are not Club
Members yet, so please join them up
and let us all make them welcome.
The MBCNSW is moving forward to
aggressively attract new members
and we thank Bill Greenville for his
sterling work over the past years as
the Club’s membership secretary.
Jenny Fleming has taken over the
Membership Secretary portfolio and
she is actively making contact with
our entire database of members
to make sure details are correct
and connect with them to be more
involved in events and Club life.
I am very pleased to report that our
Membership is growing well and I ask
all Members to make new Members
feel welcome at meetings and events.
With development plans in progress
for the website, membership will
become an automated online process
this year, with the ability to pay
quarterly by credit card or electronic
funds transfer.
The Executive Committee has
revised the annual Club membership
fees, as Club dues have not increased
for over four years and our running
costs certainly have.
Printing costs along with many other
essential services have increased,
considerably, and now account for
approximately half of a single annual
membership fee. The new fee is $95
per annum with a special price $25
joining fee for new members.
Website:
The new MBCNSW website needs
input from digitally savvy Mercedes-
Benz owners with new cars, and
in particular AMG owners, for
suggesting content, ideas and ways
to manage social media and modern
car events. Please contact A. King to
The Mercedes-Benz SSK 710 Count Trossi Roadster will be featured in the next issue of Star Torque.
