A NEW APPROACH TO THE FETE 2016 As indicated by the new poster/flier, this year the focus of the Summer Fete will be on attracting families with children and entertaining both. There will be a bouncy castle and many extra new events for the children, organised by a team lead by Janet Kamara and family. Her team are working on a variety of fun and games to encourage the children to stay and play. As these children will have their Mums, Dads and Grandparents with them, they too need to be entertained. Rosemary Bohr is working intensively to organise a day of constant, varied entertainment including, for the first time, a Jazz Band, who will play all the classics in three 45-minute sessions throughout the day. The stalls will, as always, play a major rôle in the success of the day. The book stall will be packed as usual, but this year only with English Books. The home produce stall will be expanded to include sales of some major UK food products. There will be a great bottle tombola, silent auction and ‘guess-the-weight-ofthe-cake” challenge. Some new, exciting ideas and proposals are still being finalised. Among these, a special’ Full English Breakfast’ feature from 08:00 – 10:00. This is a suggestion put forward from the congregation and is being given serious thought, though a few practicalities still need to fall in place first. On a practical note, the tents will be set up on Friday, keeping the church free or clutter and hopefully reducing set-up stress for all the stallholders and helpers. With so many extra activates and ideas we are also looking for sponsorship wherever we can get it. If you know of any companies that we may approach, who may wish to support us with product or finance please let us know. As always, without the enthusiastic help of so many, nothing happens. If you are able to assist in anyway, please contact us as soon as possible and add your name to the sign-up lists in the church Narthex.
