CLAIRE JESPERSEN - R. I. P.
In our magazine of Sept-October 2013 the following piece appeared. 2½ years
later, Claire Jespersen died and her funeral was held on 9 th June in her beloved
Church. It is worth repeating the notice so that we can remember Claire as she
was while still able to attend services.
“Claire Jespersen became a glamorous
nonagenarian on 12 August 2013! A
member of St Alban`s for 63 years and a
choir member for 50 years, Claire remains
one of the most faithful members of St
Alban’s church community.
On retirement, Claire became a Guardian
working almost every week to welcome
many thousands of visitors to the church.
She served as Church Registrar until 2004.
Trained as a teacher, Claire came to
Denmark from Oxford in U.K. She married
Olaf Jespersen in 1949 and had
2 daughters, who grew up in Denmark.
Her husband died in 1989, two years after
she retired from Rygaard’s School. She
has 4 Grandchildren and 1 Great
grandson.
A secret to her active longevity… Keep as active as possible, both mentally and
physically, solve crossword and Sudoku puzzles, walk as much as possible, join
clubs to meet people, no grumbling and appreciate one`s Good Luck and
Health.”
Claire’s funeral was held on a beautiful sunny day with a church well filled with
her family and members of the congregation. Some had sung in the choir with
her, some had been in the St Alban’s Wives and Altar Guild with her. All
remembered her with love.
May she rest in the peace of the Lord, whom she loved all her life.
