ABU boosts MBA education with e-learning

IN its quest to boost MBA
education with e-learning,
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
has launched an online MBA
programme where examinations
could be written at designated
centres in Lagos, Abuja and
Zaria.
Director of the Distance
Learning Centre of the institution,
Prof. Adamu Zoaka Hassan in a
release explained that the
program was designed to allow
students to attend lectures without
coming to the physical campus.
He said the working class need
not quit their jobs as lectures
would be available electronically
on both the web platform and
mobile devices that can work even
offline to give the desired
flexibility needed to study at the
pace of the students.
He said: “The admission process
is also fully electronic and is done
on the website from application
to payments, to course
registration, to lectures. You do not
have to submit physical forms or
cash, everything can be done
digitally on the website -
www.abudlc.edu.ng. This is the
e-learning revolution where
learning is brought to the comfort
of the students.”

EFANDION, a rural
community in Uromi Kingdom,
Edo State, came alive recently
when the MD/CEO of Intercontinental
Distillers Ltd, Engr.
Patrick Anegbe, an indigene of
Efandion, constructed four blocks
of classrooms, staff room and
Principal’s office, equipped and
donated same to the Edo State
Government.
The only secondary school in
the village was one of the schools
founded by late Prof. Ambrose
Alli, former governor of defunct
Bendel State as part of the implementation
of the free education
policy of the then Unity Party
of Nigeria, that no child should
trek more than three kilometers
to access secondary education.

Stanbic IBTC counsels students on
leadership, career

AS part of its corporate social
investment campaign for
2016, management and staff of
Stanbic IBTC, member of
Standard Bank Group, devoted
a day to mentor students of Lagos
Progressive Schools, Surulere, on
career choices and leadership.
The mentorship class provided
an opportunity for the students
to have a one-on-one interaction
with the staff members in a lively
and stimulating class session.
The sessions examined five
steps to helping a child develop
leadership skills. The classes
were practical and engaging to
gain and retain the students’
attention as well as ensure their
full participation.

Anglican Comprehensive
High School Ipaja, Lagos, has
held its first reunion and
inaugural election of executives
to man the affairs of the
association.
The then Senior Prefect,
Gbenga Ogunwale, emerged
President, while Christiana
Esesuota and Toyin Sodipo were
voted in as first and second Vice
Presidents respectively. Dare
Ogunmolu was voted General
Secretary, Tracy Amungha-Oseni
will serve as Assistant General
Secretary, while Banke Adebola-
Mogaji emerged Treasurer.

NB rewards media excellence
THE 2016 edition of the
Nigerian Breweries’ (NB)
GoldenPen Awards has opened with
the promise of exciting cash and other
gift items for winners.
Kufre Ekanem, NB's Corporate
Affairs Adviser, who explained to
newsmen at the flag-off of the 8 th
edition of the competition in Lagos
on Tuesday, added that the award
which will be in three categories will
reward the Golden Pen Reporter of
the Year, Golden Pen Photo
Journalists of the Year and Golden
Pen Nigerian Breweries Report of the
Year. Like the previous seven
editions, Ekanem disclosed the
theme of the award remains
Education, Youth Empowerment
and Talent Development. He noted
that the award was introduced to
promote professionalism and
objective reportage of events in
Nigeria. It is also meant to reward
such journalists who abide by the
ethics of the profession.
