It was one of the gains of
Speaking about the exhibition,
art patron and founder of
OYASAF, Prince Shyllon who
declared the exhibition open and
unveiled the sculptures said, “I
am impressed about the Chinese
culture that is as old oas about
2,500 years. Chinese love love
that I cannot find Nigerians loving
Faith & Talent Junction: Nurturing
talents for national development
By Prisca Sam-Duru &
Vera Anyagafu
WHY you have been
seeing me as a movie
legend, all these years you’ve
seen me act all the actables and
am still acting and modeling
because I’ve not left my talent, is
because I discovered who I am,
who I was and still to be at a very
early age. This is why I act my
roles very well.” Those were the
words of Nollywood A-list actress,
Eucharia Anunobi while
mentoring young Nigerians on
the importance of self discovery
to national development.
A lot of times, people engage
in trial and error method in the
course of discovering who they
are and what they are endowed
with. It becomes worse when
upon discovering their talents,
they are helpless as to how to
nurture the talents and make
good living out of them.
It was in a bid to assist young
Nigerians to discover their
talents and subsequently,
become self reliant in a poor and
unstable economy such as
Nigeria’s, that Koga Faith
Foundation held talent discovery
and empowerment workshop for
youths.
The maiden edition of Faith and
Talent junction, was a wake up
call to the Nigerian youths on
the need to use their talents to
make a living and then, bring
about the change the country
desires. It underscored the
importance of having young and
talented individuals in
government who will help put
an end to corruption and bad
leadership rocking the country.
Patnership that Rocks, the event
which held weekend, featured
the Nollywood Diva turned
preacher, Apostle Euchariah
Anunobi, who shook the entire
hall of the Rock View Hotel,
Festac town, with inspiring
lectures enough to set every
jobless individual on a viable
track to achieving greatness.
Emphasisng on the need to
assist the youths discover their
talents early in life, Anunobi who
disclosed that she was a beauty
queen, and still a fashion model
as well as movie legend added
that she discovered her talent
early in life because she gave her
life to Christ since 20 years ago.
Anunobi further revealed that
the reason people fail in life is
because they serve in other
individuals' positions or field
stressing that youths need to
discover and nurture their talent
to survive in the difficult
economic condition of Nigeria.
She advised those seeking to
excel in the entertainment
industry, to ensure they deal with
limitations before venturing into
the industry. “To be an actor you
need to be good in English, this
enables you understand the
script so as to be able to interpret
your roles perfectly.
Youths need to
discover and
nurture their
talents to survive
in difficult
economic
condition of
Nigeria
Serious
limitations
The truth is that everyone must
not become an actor, so those with
serious limitations in this regard
can make impact in other
departments in Nollywood like
welfare, location management,
costumier, props etc. I tell people
that the fact that you read
Theartre arts does not mean that
you should become an actor.
Apostle Anunobi also advised
against trying to make it the fast
way such as thinking of
submitting to sexual assault all
in the name of getting roles since
such acts boomerang in the
future.
Also speaking, the Convener of
the Faith and Talent Junction,
Bishop Priscilla Otuya said God
is depending on African youths
to drive change in the country,
urging Nigerian youths not to be
left out of the transformation
process in the country.
She regretted that religious
Christianity has so much caged
youths that they need to first
discover their roots and talents
to make a change. "The system
has separated faith from talent but
in the real sense, both should
work together. Self discovery is
important and the youths should
collaborate if they wish to make
huge impact so that power would
stop revolving round the old
politicians."
