58 systems & aircraft technologies Das Potenzial von Echtzeit-Kollaboration im Flugzeugdesign- Prozess The potential of real-time collaboration for the aircraft design process Die effiziente Zusammenarbeit von Konstrukteuren und/oder Designern ist essenziell für die Entwicklung von Produkten und Konzepten. Sie beinhaltet die Definition gemeinsamer Ziele für den Entwurfsprozess, die Koordinierung der Entwurfsvorgänge und das Teilen einer Arbeitsumgebung. Diese integriert nicht nur alle Datensätze, sondern erstellt auch eine konsistente Struktur des Konzeptes oder Produktes. Heute sind Software-Lösungen erhältlich, die die Zusammenarbeit durch das verteilte Bearbeiten von Dokumenten und Datenmodellen unterstützen. Im Gegensatz zu konventionellen Lösungen des kollaborativen Daten- und Informationsmanagements erlaubt die sogenannte Echtzeit-Kollaboration die Vermeidung von Konflikten aufgrund unterschiedlicher Informationsstände der Entwickler. Hierdurch werden Unstimmigkeiten zwischen den Beteiligten direkt offensichtlich. Eine kritische Frage ist das Potenzial von Echtzeit- Kollaboration aus der Sicht individueller Entwickler. Um diese zu adressieren, wurden typische Arbeitssituationen analysiert: beispielsweise Zusammenarbeit in Arbeitstreffen, synchrone parallele Arbeit, Wiederaufnahme einer Arbeit nach Abwesenheiten und die Koordination verschiedener Simulationszyklen. Aus den Ergebnissen wurden Anforderungen ermittelt, um Echtzeit-Kollaborationsfähigkeiten in existierende Entwicklungsprozesse zu implementieren und um Erweiterungen für existierende Werkzeuge zur Nutzung ihrer Potenziale zu entwickeln. Echtzeit-Kollaboration hat das Potenzial, die Effizienz bei der Arbeit von Entwicklern nicht nur im Team, sondern auch individuell zu verbessern. Letzteres wird sowohl durch intrinsische Motivation zum frühzeitigen und umfassenderen Teilen von Inhalten als auch durch die häufigere und verbesserte Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Konstrukteuren und/oder Designern im selben Kontext erzielt. Die Zusammenarbeit in Echtzeit vermeidet Konflikte aufgrund unterschiedlicher Kenntnisstände der Entwickler. Real-time collaboration capabilities avoid information conflicts and disagreements amongst developers. Efficient collaboration amongst designers is essential for the development process of new concepts and products. This collaboration includes the establishment of a common goal for the design process, the coordination of design activities, and the sharing of a common workspace, which not only integrates all data sets but also establishes a consistent structure of a concept or product. Recently, software solutions that support collaboration by allowing distributed editing of documents and data models have become available. In contrast to conventional collaborative data management solutions, this so-called real-time collaboration capability allows designers to avoid information conflicts. Accordingly, disagreements amongst developers become apparent instantly. A critical question is the potential of real-time collaboration from an individual designer‘s perspective. In order to address this, typical situations of designers, such as collaborative meetings, synchronous distributed work, resumption after vacation, and coordination of different simulation cycle times, were analyzed. Results were used to elicit requirements to adopt real-time collaboration capabilities for existing design processes and to design extensions for existing tools in order to leverage their potential. Real-time collaboration has the potential to improve designers’ work efficiency not only collectively but also individually. The latter is achieved by providing intrinsic motivation towards sharing more content earlier, and to work more frequently with other designers within the same context.
