Dog rescued from<br />

hot car at Zuma<br />

A small dog was rescued<br />

July 9 from inside a hot car<br />

parked at Zuma Beach by a<br />

Malibu-Lost Hills Sheriff’s<br />

deputy, according to the<br />

police station’s Facebook<br />

page.<br />

The station received a<br />

call from a concerned visitor<br />

who saw the dog inside<br />

of the car, which had a window<br />

slightly cracked open.<br />

Krase responded to the<br />

area and located the vehicle<br />

with the dog inside.<br />

Krase was able to unlock<br />

the vehicle and remove the<br />

dog, which was reportedly<br />

very thirsty and drank water<br />

right from Krase’s hand,<br />

according to the Facebook<br />

post.<br />

Deputies were able to locate<br />

the dog’s owners, who<br />

were out-of-town visitors<br />

to Malibu, according to the<br />

post. The visitors did not<br />

realize when they arrived<br />

to the beach that they could<br />

not bring a dog onto the<br />

beach, so they decided to<br />

leave the dog in the vehicle.<br />

However, the did was not<br />

left alone for long.<br />

Police reports<br />

Several cars burglarized on July 8<br />

July 8 saw a host of<br />

activity in the form of reported<br />

car burglaries.<br />

A car burglary was reported<br />

in the 35000 block<br />

of Pacific Coast Highway<br />

at Leo Carrillo State<br />

Beach, where a suspect or<br />

suspect reportedly shattered<br />

the front passenger<br />

side window of a man’s<br />

car and took an iPhone,<br />

leather wallet, sunglasses,<br />

backpack, $85 and a few<br />

credit cards.<br />

At Duke’s Malibu in the<br />

21000 block of PCH the<br />

same day, sunglasses and<br />

a CD case were allegedly<br />

stolen from a woman’s vehicle.<br />

The woman parked<br />

her car with the valet at<br />

8 p.m. When her car was<br />

returned to her at 10 p.m.,<br />

she saw that the rear passenger<br />

window had been<br />

shattered, her glove compartment<br />

opened and the<br />

items missing, police said.<br />

On the corner of PCH<br />

and Paradise Cove Road,<br />

the title to a car and a car<br />

registration were allegedly<br />

stolen from inside a vehicle.<br />

The right rear passenger<br />

window was also<br />

allegedly shattered.<br />

Again, on the same day,<br />

in the 5000 block of Busch<br />

Drive, a man parked his<br />

car at Zuma Ridge Trailhead<br />

at 7 p.m. When he<br />

came back an hour later,<br />

he found his car ransacked<br />

and a window shattered.<br />

The man said no property<br />

was taken.<br />

A woman’s bicycle<br />

also was allegedly stolen<br />

that day from outside her<br />

apartment on PCH.<br />

State Beach in the 3900<br />

block of Cross Creek<br />

Road, a vehicle was allegedly<br />

burglarized of<br />

a black bag containing<br />

several items. A family<br />

parked their rental car<br />

in the parking lot of the<br />

beach. After an hour-long<br />

walk, they came back and<br />

noticed someone had entered<br />

the trunk of the vehicle<br />

and stole the items.<br />

Police said they found so<br />

signs of forced entry.<br />

July 13<br />

• The manager of the<br />

Sephora store in the 3800<br />

block of Cross Creek<br />

Road reported that he saw<br />

a male and female suspect<br />

put merchandise into a<br />

brown bag. The manager<br />

took bag from the male<br />

suspect without a struggle<br />

and saw 10 bottles<br />

of men’s Dior fragrance<br />

inside. Each bottle was<br />

worth about $90.<br />

July 12<br />

• In the 23000 block of<br />

Malibu Road at Coldwell<br />

Banker, an unknown suspect<br />

or suspects allegedly<br />

tried to enter a locked office.<br />

When the manager of<br />

the location arrived, she<br />

noticed broken glass and a<br />

cut door handle, and that<br />

the suspect or suspects<br />

gained entry through the<br />

front doors of the business.<br />

Police said they saw<br />

pry marks on the door by<br />

the lock of the office, and<br />

that the door handle appeared<br />

to have been cut<br />

off. But the lock stayed in<br />

place, preventing access<br />

to the office, police said.<br />

July 11<br />

• At the parking lot of<br />

the UPS store in the 23000<br />

block of Malibu Road, two<br />

Samsung phones were allegedly<br />

stolen from an unlocked<br />

car. A man left his<br />

phone plugged in, while a<br />

second man left his phone<br />

under a jacket in the left<br />

rear passenger seat, according<br />

to the report.<br />

• In the 35000 block of<br />

Pacific Coast Highway, a<br />

purse, leather wallet, $125<br />

and various debit cards<br />

were allegedly stolen. A<br />

man parked his car at Leo<br />

Carillo State Beach. When<br />

he returned to his vehicle,<br />

he saw the front passenger<br />

window shattered and the<br />

items missing.<br />

• At Vintage Grocers,<br />

a male Hispanic and a<br />

female Hispanic were reportedly<br />

seen in the store’s<br />

liquor section acting suspicious.<br />
