Sika comes to rescue at Hemans Estate
At the 1930s Hemans Estate in Lambeth, a
concrete repair and protection package and
anti-slip flooring system from Sika has helped
to bring a series of housing blocks up to latest
performance and aesthetic standards,
Following the application of a repair system
comprising a steel primer, bonding agent and
repair mortar, two decorative and anticarbonation
coatings were applied. Offering a
proven track record and a simple installation
process, these can be applied over existing
coatings or directly onto the concrete to offer
protection and aesthetic enhancement. With
its ability to be laid and trafficked in the same
day, sealer and base coat from Sika proved the
ideal solution to refurbish the balconies and
terraces. Installed directly over the existing
asphalt for an ever faster application, the
system also met the client’s demands for a 10
year life expectancy.

relaunched its popular Perla
portfolio to offer specifiers a
simplified but improved
contemporary laminated range
which is also Cradle to Cradle
certified. Its Perla OP 0.95 ceiling
tile became the first mineral tile in the world to win Cradle to Cradle

The improved Perla range includes best-in-class fully-painted edges

Wood grill ceiling adds design detail
to £6 million shared workspace
development
A £6 million business development in Northumberland has been
enhanced with a high quality grill ceiling, thanks to the experts at
global architectural products company Hunter Douglas.
Hunter Douglas was commissioned to design and supply 223m2 of
wood grill for demountable ceiling at Blyth Workspace, a modern
serviced office space for businesses.
Designed by Robin Parsons of Xsite Architecture, the ceiling is made
from Magma fire-treated African Ayous and was supplied in module
4-70-15-45, reflecting the Scandinavian cues used in the internal
shopfitting, as well as provide a finish that could continue seamlessly
from the external soffit through to the internal ceiling.
The high-specification building
was commended by the Royal
Institution of Chartered Surveyors
(RICS) and has a range of high-tech
features that ensure occupants
can work in a comfortable
environment.
