Sika comes to rescue at Hemans Estate
At the 1930s Hemans Estate in Lambeth, a
concrete repair and protection package and
anti-slip flooring system from Sika has helped
to bring a series of housing blocks up to latest
performance and aesthetic standards,
Following the application of a repair system
comprising a steel primer, bonding agent and
repair mortar, two decorative and anticarbonation
coatings were applied. Offering a
proven track record and a simple installation
process, these can be applied over existing
coatings or directly onto the concrete to offer
protection and aesthetic enhancement. With
its ability to be laid and trafficked in the same
day, sealer and base coat from Sika proved the
ideal solution to refurbish the balconies and
terraces. Installed directly over the existing
asphalt for an ever faster application, the
system also met the client’s demands for a 10
year life expectancy.
Armstrong introduces a Perla of an offer
Armstrong Ceilings has
relaunched its popular Perla
portfolio to offer specifiers a
simplified but improved
contemporary laminated range
which is also Cradle to Cradle
certified. Its Perla OP 0.95 ceiling
tile became the first mineral tile in the world to win Cradle to Cradle
status two years ago and now the whole range joins Armstrong’s
Ultima+ range in earning Bronze certification.
The improved Perla range includes best-in-class fully-painted edges
for additional aesthetics and durability, a new MicroLook 90 edge
detail for an improved fit, and a consistent 8mm reveal throughout
the range, for simplicity. But the popular plain, smooth, low-gloss
monolithic visual of the former Perla remains, with high light
reflectance (up to 86%) to reduce reliance on artificial light.
The range also provides optimum indoor air quality (due to ultra-low
A+ VOC emissions) and contributes to better indoor environments
with ISO 5 classification suitable for clean rooms in healthcare
environments.
Helifix launch animated micro-pile
installation video
Helifix has created a new animation
which shows step by step
installation procedures for its
versatile Dixie micro-pile. The
animation clearly demonstrates
how these high performance micropiles
can be used either to stabilise existing buildings that are suffering
from subsidence or to help form secure and level foundations for new
constructions.
The well proven and technically advanced Dixie micro-pile is backed by
International Code Council (ICC) certification and conforms to AC358, the
International Standard for helical foundation underpinning systems. Dixie
micro-piles combine with the Helibeam masonry stabilisation system to
provide a complete structural repair solution which economically and
sympathetically restores full structural integrity as all repairs, both above
and below ground, are fully concealed.
Helifix Dixie micro-piles provide a fully engineered and cost-effective
solution to the problem of foundation settlement while avoiding the
major disruption and costs of extensive excavations.
