Monitoring pays dividends with
OTT Power-Check
In long run batch machining operations the
need for repeatable accuracy puts a great
onus on key machine tool components – none
more so than the spindle.
Degradation of internal components such
as spindle bearings and the spindle pull back
mechanism will impact over time on
sustained precision of the workpiece being
machined, in the same way as tool wear. As
such, spindle performance monitoring
becomes essential in such environments.

Manchester.
For manufacturers looking for 'material
specific' tooling solutions, Rainford will be
showing the Louis Belet range of cutting
tools specific for Aluminium, Brass, Stainless
Steel, Titanium and Composite materials.
The Swiss manufactured Louis Belet range
force measuring gauge – the Power-Check
Magazine - is available from the German
manufacturer OTT-Jakob and available in the
UK from Gewefa UK Limited.
The Power-Check Magazine features an
integral ultra slim pencil design suitable for
small machine tool spindles - for example
HSK32 - and a short gauge line which can be
used in an automated manufacturing cell
where preventative maintenance and
continuous monitoring of the spindle pullback
mechanism is essential.
The Power-Check Magazine is located in
the tool carousel (as with a conventional
toolholder) and when tool changed into the
spindle automatically transmits spindle taper
retention readings to a remote receiver via a
wireless connection.
As well as taking readings from machines
involved in high volume, continuous
machining operations, the new Power-Check
magazine is also suitable for use in
automotive and aerospace FMS systems
where accessibility could be an issue.

Rainford Brings Micro Machining Expertise to the
Exhibition

The Louis Belet brand focuses on material
type and application. From decades of
expertise, their engineers have perfected the
right tool geometries and coatings for specific

applications. Alongside the micro machining
Louis Belet range will be the Samurai Series
of end milling cutters from Union Tool SA.
This extensive range incorporates a complete
line of two, three or four fluted cutters with a
square or ball nose variant for machining all
material types. The diversity of the solid
carbide Samurai range provides up to 59 tool
types from 1 to 12mm diameter. This
comprehensive offering makes the Samurai
range, the tool of choice for the mould & die,
aerospace, automotive, medical and general
subcontract industries.
The high-end tooling lines from Louis
Belet and Union Tool will be complemented
by specialist tooling lines from Iwata,
Xactform, Hobe and Osawa at the
Manchester exhibition.
UK debut for groundbreaking
press brake
In its short life, the new TruBend Series 5000
has become the most successful press brake
for TRUMPF worldwide. And although it
has never been shown publicly before in the
UK, this bending machine has already
attracted a lot attention and secured a
number of orders for the Luton-based
company.
At Northern Manufacturing, visitors will
be able to see why this new addition is
proving such a winner as this bending
machine will be the main feature on the
TRUMPF stand. Everything about this
model is designed for high productivity,
from programming and tool set-up through
to the bending process itself.
Not only it is fast, it is also very flexible in
its application and capable of bending a wide
variety of parts with the greatest precision.
Two innovative angle measurement systems
enhance accuracy and repeatability. The
machine also introduces a new control
concept that is revolutionary in its simplicity
and intuitive to use. It’s eco-friendly too as it
only consumes energy during the bending
process.
TRUMPF specialises in many
metalworking technologies and another that
will feature on the company’s stand is laser
welding. The five-axis TruLaser Station 5005
represents the range and is a space-saving,
easy to operate machine for welding a wide
variety of materials.
Laser marking is another technology in
which TRUMPF excels and to demonstrate
its capability in this field the company will be
presenting its TruMark Station 3000 with a
TruMark 5010 beam source. This compact,
simple, safe and industrially robust
workstation combines excellent average
power with brilliant beam quality to deliver
cost-effective results, even with demanding
marking tasks.
Completing the stand exhibits will be
